Even though it took almost three years for them to be reunited again for their Iconic concert this year, Sharon Cuneta shared why her friendship with Regine Velasquez has withstood the test of time.

“Kasi ang bahay niya, parang pag nagpunta ako at pag nagpunta siya sa bahay ko parang excursion dahil sa traffic. Quezon City siya, ako Makati. Kami ni Reg, Although yun na nga, may kalayuan yung mga bahay namin, hindi kami nawawalan ng communication.

“Kahit hindi every day or every week, kasi pag nag-love ka ng tao tapos sinuklian ka tapos nakita mo lalo yung pagkatao, lalong lumalalim. Lalo siyang napapamahal sa akin as times goes by.

“Feeling ko kahit hindi na kami kumakanta at may apo na kami, yung parang feeling ko magkikita pa rin kami pag birthday ni Nate or birthday niya, ganun. Ako gusto kong maging part ng family nila kasi pati si Ogie (Alcasid),” she said.

During the press conference for Iconic, Sharon revealed how she and her husband Kiko Pangilinan already had close ties with Regine’s husband Ogie Alcasid.

“Nauna kong maging friend si Ogie nung ‘80s pa eh. Mahal na mahal talaga ni Kiko (Pangilinan) si Ogie to begin with. They’ve known each other since Ogie was in grade school and Kiko was in high school. Tapos nag-UP silang pareho. Magkakilala na sila.

“From the beginning pa. 2008 na concert sa States na kasama ko siya. Lalong naging magkakaibigan kami tapos nung si Reg na naging close na kami. Magkakasundo talaga kami.

“I’m nice to everyone pero ibang usapan yung friendship without the quotation marks. Kasi you only have so much time. Lalo na when you’re getting older, you realize you won’t have time for everybody.

“You have to sift through your list na and there are people who pass through your life for a reason, to teach you a lesson, but there are some na kahit hindi mo nakikita will be there forever and that you would love to have around forever. So she’s in that category,” she admitted.

Having worked with numerous performers onstage throughout her more than four decades-long career, Sharon shared why she is delighted to be performing with Regine again.

“She’s so generous. Being who she is and having a big talent in singing, she’s really such a generous co-performer. Wala ka ng mahihiling.

“The biggest stars in the industry, you will find are the most generous. The ones who are secure in their places in the industry and she’s one of them.

“Of course we love our audience and we love performing together lalo. Sabi ko bonus na lang yung shows kasi magkasama kami (laughs). Mas exciting yung in-between shows,” she said.

Apart from doing concerts together this year, the Megastar admitted she and Regine were also hoping to star in a movie together someday too.

“I know my abilities, kung saan ako mas magaling, kung saan ako mas nangangailangan ng tulong. At saka movie rin, naghihintay lang kami. We would love to do a movie together!” she added.
