Contrary to what some people may think, Jessy Mendiola said her husband Luis Manzano wasn’t reason why she started refusing to do kissing scenes onscreen ever since her last teleserye Sandugo which started airing in 2019.

“Nung nag-Sandugo ako nag-stop na ako mag-kissing scenes. Okay lang na may sexy scenes or love scenes, it’s okay, it’s part of it. But yung kissing scenes lang talaga parang for me kasi, nung nabalitaan ko yung COVID, ano kasi I’m very praning. I’m paranoid. So medyo may pagka-hypochondriac ako. Pagka may nababalitaan akong ganun or kunwari may isang bagay na gagawin ko after, iisipin ko siya ng iisipin. So para sa akin para iwas stress at iisipin, nagsabi na ako, naging honest ako na I prefer not to do kissing scenes,” she explained during her launch as Cathy Valencia Advanced Skin Care Clinic’s newest celebrity ambassador.

In fact, according to Jessy, her husband never even got jealous of any of her leading men.

“Ay no wala siyang ganun. Actually kaibigan na niya halos lahat ng naging leading man ko (laughs). So para wala naman siyang problema sa ganun. Nung Girl in a Orange Dress nga kinilig siya sa amin ni Echo (Jericho Rosales). Sabi niya, ‘Love, alam mo kinikilig ako sa inyo!’ Sinabi niya yun eh. Tapos ilang beses pa niya pinanuod yung movie,” she explained.

The new Cathy Valencia Advanced Skin Care ambassador also revealed how marriage has changed her in some ways like her sense of fashion.

“Oh yes. (Before) I never wore pink But now my bag is pink. I’m wearing pink. Parang nasabi ko, ‘Parang naging mas maarte ako (laughs).’ But I think it comes with maturity. I used to boyish kasi. I used to wear rubber shoes lang and there’s nothing bad dun di ba? I have nothing against it. Lagi lang ako naka-T-shirt at jeans. But then as you grow older nagkakaroon ng maturity,” she said.

During an intimate interview with the press, Jessy shared how Luis has changed since getting married.

“Mas naging relaxed siya. When Lu and I broke up, parang siyang nagmamadali. Nagmamadali siya in life. Sa trabaho, sa businesses, parang hindi siya maka-slow down. It’s more of wala na siyang time for himself. Wala na siyang time magpahinga. Kaya din siya medyo na-stress nun eh kasi sabay sabay yung pandemic at ABS-CBN closure. So lagi siyang nagmamadali. Madami siyang ginagawa.

“Tapos finally when we got married I told him, ‘Alam mo, love, you have to slow down. You’re not getting any younger. You have to take care of your health. You have to prioritize what you want for yourself. You’re okay na eh. And kahit pa mawala lahat yan huwag ka mag-alala, alagaan kita.’ Sabi ko, ‘Kahit pa tuyo ang kainin natin everyday, basta uminom lang tayo ng madaming tubig, gagawin ko lahat para sa ‘yo.’ Sabi ko siguro nakapag-iipon din naman ako ng konti para mabuhay tayo ng simple, ganun. So yun yung nag-change sa kanya. Na-relax na siya. Na finally, ‘I have someone na if when all else fails, she’s got my back.’ So yun yung lagi kong pinapaalala ko sa kanya. pag nawala lahat don’t worry,” she said.
