Having been last seen acting in the long-running teleserye FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano which ended its run last year, Sharon Cuneta has been busy performing in the Iconic concert tour here and abroad along with Regine Velasquez. Last March 5, the Megastar shared a lengthy post on social media revealing her current status as a well-loved Kapamilya star.

The 57-year-old artist shared how ABS-CBN has played a big part in her almost 45 year career in showbiz. She wrote, “I have been and will always be a Kapamilya. I have been with ABS-CBN since 1988, when they were just rebuilding their station from the ground up after years of closure by the then-Philippine government. I did three shows with them which carried my name - The Sharon Cuneta Show for eleven years, SHARON for 6 years, and the third, also called SHARON, for another 6 or so years.

Then I did Star Power, The Biggest Loser, was a coach on The Voice Kids and The Voice Teens, and a judge in Your Face Sounds Familiar. And of course, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, which I owe largely to my ‘son’ @cocomartin_ph, who handpicked me for the role of Aurora Guillermo.

“For the first time in all these decades, I don’t have a long-term contract with my station. I know it is a number of things that have caused this. We lost our franchise, the station has way too many stars now and we of the ‘old guard’ have to give way.”

In the same post, Sharon also declared that since she is currently a free agent, she is open to working in any network that will offer her projects.

“So while I will always be there when they need me and will always be grateful, I guess it is understandable that I for now consider myself a free agent. It’s time I opened myself up to other stations that may need my services, while always keeping my Kapamilya ‘duties,’ if and when they come.

“One goes only where one is needed. (And no, wala pa akong nakakausap na kahit sino mula sa kahit anong istasyon, for the record lang po.) I love you, ABS-CBN. My memory and loyalty are unquestionable. But a girl’s gotta work where she can and where she’s wanted. See you again hopefully soon, whenever you may need me! ❤️💚💙”

Before ending her post, Sharon made sure to thank Ang Probinsyano star and director Coco Martin for choosing to work with her. The Iconic singer also tagged ABS-CBN executives and directors in her post to share her emotional message.

“P.S. Coco anak, ikaw ang may malasakit sakin at lagi akong iniisip. Abot-langit ang pasasalamat ko sa’yo at habang buhay kita mamahalin! #coryvidanes #carlokatigbak #marklopez @direklauren @michellearville @ernielopez_ph @deo_endrinal @malousantos03 @direk.olivialamasan,” she added.

Earlier this month, Sharon shared some words of advice to the newer generation of actors on how to achieve longevity in the entertainment industry.

In her interview for Ogie Diaz’s vlog, she shared, “Yung mga bata ngayon, makasalubong lang face to face parang dinaanan nila parang poste lang. Hindi naman ako nag-e-expect ng anything, just a little [nod] , kahit walang hello, 'yung smile na hi. Parang minsan talaga ang feeling ko tuloy, pader ba ako, pumayat na ako ‘di ba? Kasi kami nga hindi ganoon.

“Kaming mga nag-umpisa noong araw pa, pagka talagang merong senior sa aming artista, kahit hindi kami kilala, lalapitan namin: 'Magandang hapon po. Ako po si Sharon, bago po akong singer.' Kasi nasa-star struck ka rin pero paggalang yun. Default setting ko talaga, Miss Congeniality ako eh. Ang dali-daling maging masaya, ang dali-daling maging mabait kasya sa maging masama ugali,” she explained.

Sharon is set to star in the upcoming international film The Mango Bride which is based on the award-winning novel of Filipino author Marivi Soliven of the same title which was first released in 2013.
