Sharon Cuneta and Jackie Lou Blanco just dropped the official music video for the song "Friends," which was released 40 years ago for their film Friends in Love.

The music video about their rekindled friendship was released just in time for Jackie’s birthday.

On Instagram, the Megastar shared how they were able to reconnect after years of living their own separate lives.

“It's been 40 years since I recorded this as the theme song of Jackielou's and my movie Friends In Love with our co-stars William Martinez and Rowell Santiago. She was nineteen, and I, seventeen. So much had happened in our own separate lives since then, but somehow, we lost the chance to be there for each other,” she shared.

“I've always said that life has a way of stealing things, moments...and people from you. Add to that that the industry we have both been a part of for most of our lives is nothing short of complicated that even individual personal time has always been elusive,” she added.

The song was originally titled after their hit movie, Friends in Love. However, Sharon revealed that removing the “in love” part felt like the right thing to do as they are no longer young women.

“With this song, now exclusively about just friends without the "in love" part (I know the great Tito George Canseco who wrote this song didn't mind when I tweaked the words a bit) - no boys involved now, just two girls who have grown into women, now battle-scarred and hopefully, wiser - and always - filled with hope - we pray that our song (well, Jacqui's version with me as her support) touches your hearts, brings back good memories of your years growing up shared with us two - our history together with you all,” she wrote.

Sharon went on to share how grateful she is for their renewed friendship. She said she hopes Jackie will shine brighter now more than ever.

“On her birthday today, I hope that you will remember her in the movies she and I made together - from "My Only Love" when I was sixteen and she, eighteen, to "Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Lahat Sa Akin," and ves - "Friends In Love" of course. Her star never should have taken a break. Let's all together make her shine again - and even brighter now, because that is what she has always deserved,” she wrote.
