2 Good 2 Be True actress Gloria Diaz expressed her grief over the passing of her good friend Ronaldo Valdez on December 17. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the former beauty queen shared that she is still in disbelief over what happened as she didn’t see it coming.

Gloria and Ronaldo have been friends for several decades already after working together on several films such as Palabra de Honor and May Daga Sa Loob ng Lungga. Their most recent work was the hit television series 2 Good 2 Be True where she played his sister.

The former Miss Universe recalled how the late actor looked sad during their last day of taping.

“He was very sad. Lahat kami nagmamadali, pero siya he was very sentimental. He was very sad. He hugged me so tight,” she shared.

Gloria added that even after the taping, Ronaldo would message her to invite her to spend time with him but was unable to do so because she was filming the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Mallari at that time.

“He had been texting ‘oh lunch dinner, oh kailan’, but I was so busy doing ‘Mallari’, so I said ‘Ron, Ron, after I finish Mallari which is right after Christmas, I’ll not go out of town, so we’ll see you,'" she said.

The sudden passing of the actor became a surprise to her as she never imagined it would be days before Christmas. She recalled how she even texted him days before his untimely death.

"I texted him four days before this happened. Parang I hear many people get really sad during Christmas, yes there is melancholy, solemn. I never realized that he could be that lonely,” she recalled.

“Actually, ’til now, I’m still in that disbelief. ‘Cause I know Ronnie to always be in a happy mood. What now? He didn’t even say goodbye,” she added.

The actress had nothing but good words for her late friend whom she fondly remembered as “a warm and loving person”.

“Ron was one of a kind. I never saw him in a bad mood, no matter how late. But he was always in the good mood,” she maintained.

Ronaldo was 77 years old when he passed away last December 17. He is survived by his wife, Maria Fe Ilagan Gibbs, and their two children, Janno and Melissa.
