Actor-turned-politician Arjo Atayde and actress Maine Mendoza are officially engaged. This surprising news was announced by the actress herself earlier today, July 29 on her social media account.

“Wait, whaaaat??? We’re engaged?!” Maine wrote in her caption.

Maine excitedly showed off the beautiful ring that Arjo proposed with. In another photo that the TV personality shared, the two are seen in front of hundreds of white roses.

Prior to their engagement, Arjo and Maine had been dating for more than three years.

Friends have been congratulating the two in the comments. Maja Salvador, Ria Atayde, Carlo Aquino, among others were very surprised but so excited for the future of the couple.

The fans of AlDub have also expressed their support for this new chapter in Maine’s life. According to some of the tweets directed to Maine, all they want for her is to be happy with whoever she’s with.

In January of 2019, netizens were shocked by the confirmation of Maine that she and Arjo had been exclusively dating. Months later, they confirmed that they were officially a couple.

In a previous interview, Arjo revealed that he already sees himself settling down with the actress.

“Sobrang mahal ko po yung tao, eh. Very hard to explain how a person can be unique the way you see them. But to me, she's a very loving person, mabuti ang puso niya. That's also very hard to find, 'yung sincerity. And grabe magmahal,” he previously shared.
