With Star Magic now celebrating its 30th year anniversary, longtime stars of the talent management arm of ABS-CBN took turns in dishing out advice for those aspiring actors who want to follow in their career path.

Gerald Anderson
“Hindi ako mahilig magbigay ng advice. Ako yung tipong gusto ko mag-set ng example na when you come to set dapat professional ka at dapat ready ka. But more than anything dapat always have kindness kasi hindi biro yung set eh, hindi biro yung pinagdadaanan lalo na ngayon sa mga tapings namin ngayon na naka-lock-in, ang layo sa pamilya, apat, limang araw na dire-diretso na taping. Pero huwag din kalimutan na lahat ng tao pagod eh. So always have kindness sa cameraman, sa utility. So kindness and professionalism.”

Jake Cuenca
“ABS-CBN had advice for me back then and yun din ang advice ko sa aspiring actors or people who want to be an actor, just be you. Whatever quirks you have, whatever weirdness you have, you have to keep those things kasi that thing which is called you, that’s what’s going to make you different from everyone else. At the same time, with that being said, siyempre you have to be kind. You have to be professional. You have to put in the work. Parang everyone thinks the work begins when you get to the set. That’s a misconception kasi you should have been putting all the work in way before you get to the set. Kumbaga yung nakikita na lang ng tao yung tip of the mountain and the mountain of work that’s just for you.”

Loisa Andalio
“Ang ma-a-advise ko sa mga kabataan, mangarap lang kayo ng mangarap kasi libre lang yan eh. At siyempre hindi naman puwede na pangarap lang. Kailangan may kilos din at tiyaga. Huwag kayong susuko sa pangarap niyo. Kasi once na gusto mo talaga yung bagay at para sa ‘yo talaga, talagang ibibigay ni Lord para sa ‘yo.”

Ronnie Alonte
“Ang masasabi ko lang dun sa mga kabataan na talagang gustong maging artista is ituloy niyo lang yung pangarap niyo. Kung ano yung nararamdaman niyo, go lang. Huwag kayong makikinig sa iba. Sundin niyo yung puso niyo.”
