Before getting cast as one of the lead stars of the film 69+1, Rose Van Ginkel admitted she was already on the verge of quitting showbiz if it weren't for the guidance and support of her director Darryl Yap. The former Pop Girls member said she started out in showbiz around the same time as Nadine Lustre and has been waiting for a big break for several years already before she was cast in her first lead role this year.

Pero since nag-start na ulit ako Sa Paglaki Ko Gusto Ko Maging Porn Star and nabigyan ulit ako ng project with direk Darryl so parang nagkaroon ako ng motivation.

So parang na-challenge ako sa kanya. So dun talaga nag-start ulit,” she said.

Even before the film’s September 3 release, Rose said she had already had to deal with online bashers even with her previous film.

Despite the challenges, Rose said she is proud of the feedback she has received so far after the release of 69+1’s official trailer.

Rose grabe ikaw ba yan? (laughs).’ So parang naaliw ako. Effective pala (laughs).

For those who are quick to judge her new film as just being all about sex, Rose shared her message in defense also of 69+1’s controversial director.
