After reuniting with Julia Barretto earlier this year after admitting his shortcomings as a parent, Dennis Padilla admitted he and his eldest daughter with Marjorie Barretto are slowly trying to rebuild their relationship after reconnecting.
“Okay naman. Although siyempre parang kang nagsisimula ulit. So galing kami sa misunderstanding so now nagsisimula pa lang kami. So one step at a time, building it up again. Kailangan lang talagang open yung communication para lahat ng nararamdaman mo nasasabi mo na kagad, hindi mo napupuno. So ganun din sa side nila, kailangan naka-open yung communication at tuluy-tuloy para meron kayong magandaang napag-uusapan, may magandang napupuntahan yung mga topics ninyo,” he share during the Sanggano, Sanggago’t Sanggwapo 2: Aussie! Aussie! O Sige! mediacon.
With Julia currently in a relationship with fellow actor Gerald Anderson, Dennis shared what he would do if any of his daughters ever get hurt by a man in the future.
“Pag niloko emotionally, eh ganun talaga ang buhay sa tingin ko. Basta huwag lang sasaktan. Dahil pag sinaktan nila yung mga anak ko physically ah, physically din ang igaganti ko. Sigurado yun. Hindi na ako comedian nun, action star na ako,” he said jokingly.
The veteran comedian, who is currently starring in Sanggano, Sanggago’t Sanggwapo 2 along with Andrew E. and Janno Gibbs, said he is also open to the possibility of his two other daughters joining showbiz just like Julia and Claudia.
“Yah basta mahilig oo. Kailangan lang magtapos muna sila kahit high school. Tapusin muna nila high school nila tapos after that saka kami mag-usap. Kung talagang seryoso kayong mag-a-artista, talagang you have to put your heart into it. Hindi ito libangan, career ito. Parang pag-du-doctor, parang pag-nu-nurse, parang pag-a-abogado. Pag mag-a-artista ka talagang you put your heart and soul into it. So kung ganun ang gusto nila, talagang tutulungan ko sila. Ipakilala ko sila sa mga contacts ko sa showbiz industry para matulungan, kailangan lang seryoso. Basta ang gusto ko after high school,” he explained.
Currently busy with their respective projects, Dennis said he and his daughters have not yet been able to celebrate the holidays together this year.
“Tawagan lang, video call. Batian lang. Siguro kami nila ni Julia after New Year na kami mag-di-dinner kasi they were so busy din and may mga business pa sila on the side eh busy din ako. So sabi ko after the Christmas season. Tapos gusto ko bago ko sila imi-meet, mag-sa-swab test din ako and mag-a-isolate din ako ng one day bago ko sila puntahan para safe sila,” he added.
