Streaming giant Netflix released the teaser for the upcoming second season of the hit Korean series Squid Game.

On Monday, August 12, Netflix posted the teaser across their social media platforms. The clip shared a sneak peek of the players that the fans should watch out for in the new season of the show.

Among the players highlighted in the teaser are players 007, 044, 120, 124, 125, 149, 222, 246, 380, 388, 390, and 456.

Lee Jung-jae returns to the series as Seong Gi-hun or Player 456. 

According to Netflix, the story of the sequel will center on events "three years after winning the Squid Game."

"Player 456 gave up going to the United States and returns with a new resolution. Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death battle with new participants competing to win the prize of 45.6 billion won," the streaming giant shared.

Other returning cast members include Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, and Wi Ha-jun.

Joining the show as new cast members are Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an.

Squid Game: Season 2 will premiere on December 26.

Netflix recently announced that a season 3 of the show will be produced and will be released in 2025. It will be the final season of the show.

Netflix posted a letter from series director, writer, and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk as he teased what fans can expect in the world of Squid Game.

"On the first day we began shooting Season 2, I remember thinking, 'Wow, I can’t believe I’m back in the world of Squid Game.' It almost felt surreal. I wonder how it will feel for you to be back in Squid Game after three years as well," he said.

The director went on: "Seong Gi-hun who vowed revenge at the end of Season 1 returns and joins the game again. Will he succeed in getting his revenge? Front Man doesn’t seem to be an easy opponent this time either."
