Rising recording artist Benj Pangilinan shared the inspiration behind the music video for his debut single "Love, That’s Rare."

During a media conference last Friday, July 7, the singer-songwriter revealed how he wanted to “bring a different take” on love songs with his music video.

Benj is the newest recording artist to be launched by Sony Music Entertainment this year.

“We wanted to bring a different take. Love songs have been made for years and years with so many concepts. We thought of a way to show love differently, from a different perspective,” he explained.

The rising artist added that the ending of his music video was intended to be open-ended to give the listeners a chance to define what it means for them.

“Music is very open-minded. It can mean something else to me and something else to you. We wanted to bring that in video form. When you watch it, it means something only you can understand. An open-ended ending gives that opportunity,” he remarked.

Benj and his sister Hannah Pangilinan worked together on the music video concept.

Filipino filmmaker Gilb Mendoza, on the other hand, directed the music video. Gilb had done significant work for other recording artists such as Julie Anne San Jose and Rico Blanco.

With his success slowly creeping in, Benj admitted he is having fun with what’s happening in his life lately.

“It is happening so fast, I’m taking the moment in, it’s fun…Being in front of the crowd, in public, it is not my strong suit. I started music just for me. It was my personal form of therapy,” he shared.

Benj revealed in the same media conference that he wants to work with his uncle, Gary Valenciano, and OPM star, Moira dela Torre, in the future.

“Number one for me, has always been Tito Gary Valenciano. Obviously, he is why I'm here. Moira, I love the way she writes music and brings emotion to the song,” he explained.

The music video for "Love, That’s Rare" was released on YouTube last Friday, July 7, via Sony Music Entertainment.

The video has since racked up thousands of views within its first weekend of release.
