Donny Pangilinan is set to headline a new movie with his mother Maricel Laxa-Pangalinan.

On Tuesday, March 28, Donny's father Anthony announced that they just had the contract signing for the esports film titled GG (GoodGame).

"A new day is dawning. 🌅 Official contract signing between MediaWorks and Cignal for GG (GoodGame), the first full length esports film in the Philippines," he posted.

He added: "May it add value to our country’s entertainment industry, in both end and process, the final product and means taken to get it done."

"By God’s grace and for His Glory."

Ronaldo Valdez and Baron Geisler will also be part of the film.

GG will be directed by Prime Cruz.

Fans were quick to express their elation about the project.

"Were so excited for this. Proud of Dons. We love you pangilinan fam with the love of the Lord," one fan said.

"Congratulations everyone!! So excited to watch this Donny !!🔥" another fan commented.

"This will be a hit!" another fan wrote.

Donny recently headlined the Star Cinema film titled An Inconvenient Love with Belle Mariano. In 2021, they also starred together in a film titled Love Is Color Blind.

Meanwhile, Maricel's last project on the big screen was Hello, Love, Goodbye in 2019.

Maricel is also Donny's co-manager alongside Anthony.

In an interview with Karen Davila in 2022, Donny shared that he entrusts his finances to his mom.

"A lot of my finances, I do have access to it, but my mom is the who, like just keeps it, she gives me like baon from time to time," he shared.

"[She] knows that if I have it all to myself, sometimes I might get too excited."

In the same vlog, Donny relayed that his interest in show business started when he got to see his mom's work as an actress while growing up.

"It always amazed me when I go to the set with my mom or her friends. When I do commercials as a kid. I never thought it was possible that this could be my career talaga," he relayed.

Despite coming from a family of showbiz royalties, Donny pointed out that his parents pushed him to create his own path when he decided to enter showbiz. 

"My mom was like, 'I'm not gonna call anyone. I'm not gonna use any connections. If you want to be there, you show me you want to because I don't know if you really know what you're getting into," she said.
