Alfred Vargas talked about working with Nora Aunor. 

As the producer and cast member of the upcoming film Pieta, Alfred Vargas explained why his current project was not in conflict with his duties as a councilor for the fifth district of Quezon City. 

“Ang maganda kasi sa isang distrito anim kayo so pinaghahatian niyo 'yung trabaho. Pag congressman ka sa isang distrito isa ka lang eh," he said. 

"Dahil konsehal ako nagkaroon ako ng opportunity to work with the one and only superstar in Pieta na ipapalabas this year. Post-prod pa lang kami. Ayaw lang namin madaliin kasi ayaw naman namin ng hilaw kasi Nora Aunor yan. We take our time,” he added.

The 43-year-old actor and politician couldn’t help but admit how starstruck he was working closely with Nora for the first time. 

“Para akong nasa Marvel universe. Yung pagtingin ko, 'yung mga idol ko, 'yung mga superhero ko sa acting nandun lahat. Sa isang eksena nagharap harap Nora Aunor, Gina Alajar, Jaclyn Jose tapos nandun ako. Eh sino ba naman ang Alfred Vargas? Grabe wow," he said. 

"Masasabi ko na isa talaga ito sa mga paborito ko. Tapos merong isang eksena na magkaharap kami ni ate Guy. Quiet lang 'yung eksena. Na-feel ko na siya talaga 'yung nanay ko," he added. 

"Pinaramdam niya sa akin 'yung pagmamahal ng isang ina sa eksena. To the point na sa loob ng eksena, nakita ko 'yung mukha ng mommy ko sa kanya. 'Yung ganun,” he continued.

In an earlier post on his Instagram account, the Pieta actor shared more details about his latest role onscreen including his working dynamics with Nora. 

He wrote: “Namiss ko tuloy bigla ang nanay ko. First time ng ating one-and-only Superstar and National Artist Nora Aunor na gumanap ng isang character na nabubulag at may Alzheimer's. Ibang Ate Guy ang makikita ninyo dito #PIETAmovie kahit na she’s done hundreds of roles na in her illustrious career."

"I play her son, ISAAC, na nakulong ng mahabang taon at naghahanap ngayon ng katotohanan," he said.  

He also praised Nora and said that he felt the magic while doing their scenes together.

"Ibang klaseng artista talaga si Ate Guy. Magical at nakakamangha. Naramdaman ko mismo ang 'Nora Magic' tuwing magkaeksena kami," he said. 

He went on: "She has that unbelievable command of both her heart and art, expressing nuances so effectively that she pulls in her spectators, unaware, to a world of her sincere creativity. Naramdaman ko sa mga eksena na parang nanay ko siya talaga!"

Alfred also shared the impact the project had on him, saying the it made him both a better person and an artist.  

"In these days that I've been so blessed to work with her—alongside legends like Direk Gina Alajar, Jaclyn Jose & Bembol Roco—I cannot help but feel that this movie has already made me a better person and artist. It has changed me. 🙏🏽❤️ Kaya't nag-uumapaw ang excitement ko para sa araw na mapapanood na ninyo sa wakas ang #PIETAmovie!” he remarked.

Alfred shared how pleasant the experience was working with Ate Guy from their first shooting day.  

“Lalo na nung unang araw. Ang napansin ko, yung totoong superstar, pag eksena niya, hindi niya ipaparamdam sa ‘yo na superstar siya. 'Yung ganun. Sobrang mapagbigay yun. Never niya pinaramdam sa akin na hindi ako ka-level niya. Never siya nagyabang," he said.

"Tumulong pa, nagbigay pa. Super smooth. Less than 10 days yung shoot namin. So super smooth. Kasi si ate Guy puro take one kaya hindi puwedeng hindi ka makipagsabayan kasi nakakahiya,” he added.

Alfred also said working again with director Adolf Alix Jr. was a breeze.

“May rehearsal. For me si direk Adolf is a very, very great director. And hindi lang siya magaling na director, hawak niya yung set. Sumusunod lahat sa kanya and masaya yung set. Ganun din naman siya sa Arabella kaya mabilis. Dati ko pa naman gusto makipagtrabaho sa kanya. Panahon pa nung Donsol gusto ko na makipagtrabaho sa kanya pero ngayon ako nagkaroon ng pagkakataon," he said. 

"Pero at least two projects in one year okay naman. So very grateful ako. Ang saya saya lang ng buhay ko bilang konsehal, nakakapag-acting ako ulit tapos nakakapag-aral ako ulit. Tapos nagiging tatay pa ako at asawa na maayos sa oras,” he added.

Aside from Nora Aunor, Alfred shared what kind of roles he wants to try out in the future. 

“Siyempre marami pa tayong nasa bucket list na roles na gusto natin gawin. Halimbawa kasi sa Bridal Shower naging macho dancer na ako, naging tricycle driver na ako, sa Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah naging pulis na rin ako," he said.

"Pero sa tagal tagal ng career ko, parang ang tagal ko na hindi nakagawa ng love story na light lang. Puwedeng family, parang ganun. Siguro puwede na ako mag-daddy sa isang family project. A young family," he added.  

He also shared which local stars he would love to get the opportunity to work with in the future.

"Siyempre nag-Nora Aunor na ako. Gusto rin natin si Vilma (Santos) tapos gusto ko rin makatrabaho si Hilda Koronel and then Christopher de Leon nakatrabaho ko na rin. Siguro si Richard Gomez kasi idol ko 'yun, Albert Martinez, mga ganun," he stated.

"Ang dami pa. Pero gusto rin makatrabaho 'yung mga bata rin na next generation. Open ako kahit sino. Gusto ko gumawa ng pelikula with Diana Zubiri for the sake of lang ng mga nag-me-message sa Facebook,” he added.
