The Broken Marriage Vow lead actress Jodi Sta. Maria bested other international nominees for the Best Actress in a Leading Role award at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2022. She won the award by a small winning margin of 0.7. 

Jodi’s win gave the Philippines its first win for the night which was held at Singapore earlier this evening, December 8.

The Best Actress winner was in shock as she received the award. Jodi shared that she didn’t expect to win one of the coveted awards for the evening.

“This was so unexpected. Thank you to the Asian Academy, ABS-CBN, Dreamscape, BBC for allowing us to do the Philippine adaptation of Doctor Foster. Our directors, Connie Macatuno and Andoy Ranay. 

“My co-actors and the production team, I would always say that it takes a village to be able to produce a wonderful series and I’m just at a loss for words. But again, thank you because this is the highlight of my year. God, I give you back all the glory and praise, thank you,” she said in her acceptance speech.

She was hugged by fellow actress Dimples Romana who was also nominated for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Viral Scandal. The two were seen crying tears of joy after Jodi’s name was announced. 

Jodi was nominated alongside some of Asia’s finest actresses for the prestigious award such as India’s Sakshi Tanwar, Singapore’s Rebecca Lim, Taiwan’s Cheryl Yang, and South Korea’s Kim Hye-soo, among others.

She played the role of Dr. Jill Ilustre in the ABS-CBN adaptation of Doctor Foster, locally titled as The Broken Marriage Vow. Alongside Jodi, co-actor Zaijan Jaranilla was also nominated for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
