Kapamilya actress Yam Concepcion on Wednesday, June 23, announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend Miguel Cuunjieng.

Through her Instagram page, the Init Sa Magdamag star revealed that she and her boyfriend got engaged on December 31, 2018, during a trip to Niseko, Japan.

"A thousand cranes YES," she wrote in the caption.

Among those who congratulated the couple on the good news were Iza Calzado, Maymay Entrata, Kaye Abad, Jhong Hilario, Joseph Marco, Almira Muhlach, Adrian Alandy, Arron Villaflor, Mica Javier, Nikki Valdez, Vickie Rushton, and Dionne Monsanto.

Yam and her fiancé have been dating for more than six years.

The two are currently together in New York. In an interview with Toni Gonzaga for I Feel U in April, Yam said she will be staying in the Big Apple for two to three months to spend time with her boyfriend.

According to the actress, the last time they were together was in December 2020, but that only lasted for two weeks.

“Nasanay na rin kaming LDR (long distance relationship) so parang this is nothing new to us, magkalayo pa rin kami. Sobrang swerte lang kasi nakauwi siya dito nung end of December until January bago kami nag locked-in taping ulit. We had time together naman,” she said.

Yam said that though they are in an LDR setup, she and her boyfriend make sure to fulfill their responsibilities to their relationship. This, she said, is the reason why they do not feel that they are far away from each other despite the distance.

When asked what she thinks is the key to a successful LDR, Yam said: “Communication and trust ang importante.”
