After becoming part of Kami 7 and winning the position of Center Girl in MNL48’s third generation this year, Abby Trinidad said she takes the role of center girl very seriously, with responsibilities like making sure their group is always united and well bonded.

“Nung time na naging center girl ako, isa lang ang nasa isip ko eh, ‘Finally eto na ang pangarap ko ng dalawang taon. Ako na yung center girl.’ And I did work hard for it I promise. Ang trabaho ng center girl is dapat yung MNL48 is a solid group. Talagang love lang ang nabubuo, unity, and of course yung goal na ma-reach yung top,” she shared during the MNL48 mediacon held last February 22.

As designated leader of the group, Abby said she and her co-members are all focused on their performances. “Pinu-push pa rin namin yung mga sarili namin para makapag-aral pa rin kahit busy yung mga schedule namin. We are not the normal teenagers kasi idols din kami. Parang may standard kami para sa sarili namin. Sometimes wala na kaming time manuod ng mga Kdramas pero happy na kami na magkakasama kaming lahat. The good thing about MNL48 is that we have one dream. One dream, one sound. Pare-pareho talaga kami ng iniisip kasi iisa lang yung pangarap namin,” she shared.

Having been part of MNL48 since it started in 2018, Abby also shared their experience with bashers.

“Isa sa nakikita kong dahilan kung bakit may basher kami dati dahil yung culture na pinasok namin which is from AKB48 where we have the word kawaii, cute, pa-cute, which is pag sinabi sa Pilipinas, ‘pabebe.’ Aminin natin dumating sa point na sobrang pabebe talaga ng MNL48 (laughs). Pero habang tumatagal natututo kami, nag-i-improve ang bawat member, na yung pabebe na yun sobrang professional na kaya niyang magpabebe, kaya niyang maangas, kaya niyang magpa-fierce, pa-sweet. Lahat kaya na ng MNL48. Flexible talaga sa lahat. Proud talaga ako sa MNL48. Masaya naman ako kasi yung dati naming bashers na-divert namin into supporters,” she explained.

With live performances still not allowed under the current pandemic, Abby saidMNL48 misses performing for their fans. “We [had] theater shows, handshake events, a lot of events, and sobra nakaka-miss na makapag-perform live kasama ang mga supporters namin. Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na may nag-chi-cheer sayo, nakakataas ng energy at nakakapagbigay ka ng magandang performance. Nakaka-miss yung international shows. Pag merong international show, nadadala talaga namin yung pangalan ng Pilipinas na MNL48,” she said.

During the MNL48 mediacon, Abby also shared whether she plans to join showbiz as an actor. “If I will be given a chance para mag-artista, I think for me, yung MNL48 nasa journey pa rin ako na mas mag-improve para pag dumating sa point na kaya ko na mag-solo. MNL48 taught me a lot of lessons talaga para maging best person talaga. Ang MNL48 puwede sa acting, sa dancing, sa sayawan. So why not?” she added.
