Michele Gumabao took to social media to explain why she was not present at the ASAP: Natin 'To guesting of the Miss Universe Philippines top 5 candidates.
Rabiya Mateo, Bella Ysmael, Pauline Amelinckx, and Billie Hakenson graced the Sunday musical variety show on November 22.
Explaining her side, Michele shared via social media that the show and her handler decided for her not to push through with the guest appearance because of her exposure to various relief operations.
"A lot of people have been questioning my motives for coming up here just because I missed a guesting of the MUPH queens on tv! Our goods were scheduled to be brought to Isabela and distributed by volunteers just because may scheduled guesting ako on Sunday. Due to multiple relief operations kahit negative ako sa swab, my handler and the show decided for the safety of everyone hindi ako kasama because of the exposure from my relief operations," she posted on Instagram.
Since she could not participate in the ASAP guesting, Michele decided to be in Isabela instead.
"I decided to go to Isabela with our team to personally distribute the goods instead," she said.
The beauty queen remarked that she wants to address the matter because it already involves their organization.
"Sanay na ako sa mga issues on social media and I said before basta ako lang ibash niyo okay Lang. But when it involves our organization I have to clear this up because so many people trusted and donated their hard earned money for the victims of typhoon Ulysses and I will personally see our operations through! I will not allow your drama to taint this initiative and all the people who worked hard to make this happen," she said.
Michele is part of the organization "Your 200 Pesos." The beauty queen alongside her brother Marco recently had a feeding program in Isabela, which was one of the places heavily affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.
"Back in Manila️ this concludes #Y2PGoesToIsabela️ follow and check out @your200pesos on IG and FB will be posting all our operations so all our generous donors may see where #your200pesos goes," Michele posted on her Instagram page on November 25.
This is not the first time that Michele became a subject of controversy. She recently made headlines because of her absence from the pictorial of the top 5 candidates of the Miss Universe Philippines pageant.
In a vlog she posted on November 2, Michele explained that she actually asked for permission from the heads of organizations to leave early that time.
“What saddens me the most is that when people were making issues about me leaving and not being part of that photo, the organization knew why. They knew my reasons, they knew I left. But they never said anything. They kept quiet,” she stated in the said vlog.
Michele was crowned as 2nd runner-up of the pageant.
