“My first pride experience was a dream,” shared singer-actress Janella Salvador on her social media account. “It was nice to see everyone in high spirits just celebrating, openly showing each other affection and actively protesting for equal rights. I’m glad I was able to share this moment with you all before the rain poured but I really hope you all kept safe out there! #PridePH”

The Kapamilya actress was present at the “Love Laban 2 Everyone” Pride Festival last June 22. She shared snaps of her entertaining the crowd and sharing the love. 

The event was held at the Quezon City Memorial Circle and was attended by around 200,000 supporters of the LGBTQIA+ community. In other parts of the country such as in Baguio, Iloilo, Magsaysay, Catarman, and Iligan City, similar Pride marches were also held simultaneously. 

While inclement weather cut the Pride Night celebrations short and prevented celebrities such as BINI, Vice Ganda, and Gloc-9 from entertaining the audience, everyone remained positive as they celebrated the opportunity to express their true selves. 

“This Barbie supports LGBT+ rights,” announced Janella in another post. 

Janella went a step further by offering the LGBTQIA+ community a special gift in the form of her new music video of the song “Hey You”, which came out last June 22. 

“Happy Pride, my dear vadengs! I hope you like my little gift,” said Janella. 

It appears her gift was well-received and appreciated, judging by its wide reach within hours of dropping. 

“Hey You’s MV reached 100k streams in the span of 24 hours thanks to you all!!!! Crazy,” reported Janella. 

On her Instagram, she posted a teaser of the video which featured sweet moments between her and Darna co-star Jane de Leon, to the delight of their fans. The music video follows a GL plot where Janella and Jane go from strangers to lovers. 

“Alam kong maraming naiinis na hindi natuloy ‘yung kiss sa video,” Janella said candidly. “Pero there’s a reason behind that.”

The Kapamilya star followed this up with a bold request. 

“Bigyan niyo muna kami ng GL para mag-kiss kami,” she said. “I hope this opens doors for us.”
