Screen veteran Sharon Cuneta and acclaimed actor Alden Richards are teaming up for the first time on the big screen, the actress confirmed on Monday (June 12).

The two will star in a movie by director Nuel Naval (known for his work on The Love Affair and A Secret Affair) and screenwriter Mel Del Rosario. According to Sharon's post, Alden will play her son in the still-untitled movie.

“My new movie is under Cineko Productions and Direk @directfromncn with a script by Mel Del Rosario - co-starring my new movie son, the one and only @aldenrichards02!!!” Sharon wrote on Instagram.

“In photo are all of us and Workshop Facilitator (and girl with awesome pedigree - her mom is Direk Laurice Guillen and her dad is the late Johnny Delgado!) Ina Feleo! Thank You Lord for a great project! Super excited!!!” she added.

Alden also confirmed the news with a photo of himself and the Megastar together.

“Excited for this,” he wrote, tagging Sharon.

Aside from his project with Sharon, Alden is currently gearing up for a new movie with Kapamilya actress Julia Montes. He and Julia will star in Irene Villamor’s Five Break-ups and a Romance, which will tackle the complications of a relationship.

Earlier, Alden expressed his excitement to be paired with Julia in their upcoming film.

"It’s been a while since my last film in 2019. Noong nilatag pa lang sa akin 'to, na-excite ako sa idea of being paired with Julia [Montes] because I know how brilliant of an actress she is," Alden said at the media conference for their movie.

Alden’s last film project was the blockbuster hit Hello, Love, Goodbye, in which he starred opposite Kathryn Bernardo.

Meanwhile, Sharon was last seen on the big screen in the 2021 movie Revirginized by Viva Films.
