After getting married to Derek Ramsay in 2021, actress Ellen Adarna revealed she and her husband are taking a break from showbiz for the next couple of years.

“Wala, ayoko mag-taping, ayoko mag-soap. Alam naman natin that that requires energy and a lot of time away from family. So it is my choice to take a break. Yung shooting long hours talaga. For now hindi talaga muna. Wala muna.

“Kasi magpaplano din ako mag-anak this year, trying to get pregnant hopefully. And then that’s another seven years, formative years. I just want to be there for my son or kids’ formative years which are the most crucial times,” she shared during the grand opening of the Shinagawa Diagnostic and Preventive Care Center in BGC, Taguig City

The Shinagawa celebrity endorser also revealed that she accepted being a brand ambassador because of her own experience getting lasik surgery.

“It’s very aligned with my life right now. I did my procedure I think seven years ago and my vision, last year I had it checked and it was 18/20 from the last checkup.

“Okay ang effect sa akin, my wellness, my eyesight. Before I was kind of blind. Ngayon ang klaro na ng mundo. Like I would do it even for free even with no TF (talent fee),” she admitted.

Describing her current family life as “very peaceful and balanced,” Ellen said she loves spending time with her husband Derek and son Elias. She shares Elias with former partner John Lloyd Cruz.

“It’s very Home Sweetie Home (a reference to her old sitcom). He plays golf. I have my me time. And then I spend time papatulugin ko si Elias in the afternoon. And quality time with Derek pag naglalaro si Elias sa park and then at night tulog kami together. Elias still sleeps with us. He co-sleeps,” she described their daily lives.

She also noted how the right timing seems to have aligned their goals at the time. “I think me and Derek just have met at a perfect time that when I met him ayaw na din niya and I think because of COVID, he realized a lot of things and me when I had Elias parang it was really my priority that I wanted to be there on his formative years.”

Ellen added: “He’s turning five and me and Derek are planning to have a baby this year so wala talaga, wala pa talaga sa plano ang pagbalik or what. This year na.

“Sana girl para tapos na ang boxing kasi we both have boys. And we only want one na lang. But whatever, basta healthy. I’ve always wanted a girl but now that Elias is growing up and he’s a very sweet boy, I don’t mind kung another boy.”

During the event, Ellen also shared why she understands Derek’s reason to go on a hiatus in showbiz as well.

“Okay naman siya. Ibigay na natin sa kanya kasi di ba he’s been working so long in the industry and he’s 47 and parang puwede naman din magpahinga and mag-enjoy. Pinaghirapan din, he worked hard naman din.

“We’re just really enjoying our time together kasi parang mag-tu-two years pa lang kami married, bago pa lang. And then we got married so fast. Everything happened so fast. Kaya we’re really enjoying our quality time. I’m very much enjoying it. I like the peace that I have in my life. I’m enjoying it. Kasi alam niyo naman with it (showbiz) comes a lot of controversies and drama. I’m not doing it for the money. The reason why I choose to take a break is for my family,” she added.
