Teejay Marquez said he is extremely proud to be part of Broken Hearts Trip which also includes previous MMFF Best Actor and Best Actress winners Christian Bables and Iyah Mina.

"Unang una, nung nalaman ko na kasama ako dito, hindi ko pa alam na it’s going to be part of the MMFF. So tinanggap ko ito because of the story because it’s really beautiful at saka yung maganda 'yung twist at saka 'yung mga makakatrabaho ko like the best actors and best actresses natin dito," he told PUSH during the MMFF Parade of Stars held last December 16 in Navotas City.

"Nung nalaman ko yung cast, yes agad ako. And then parang sobrang bonus na lang in the end nung nalaman namin na part siya ng Metro Manila Film Festival. So parang napakaagang pamasko sa aming lahat ito. Sobrang saya,” he added.

One of the most enjoyable parts of the project for Teejay was being able to travel to various scenic locations all over the Philippines.

“Sobrang challenging. Challenging kasi every episode or every challenge napupunta kami sa iba’t ibang lugar not just para mag-travel but also to showcase the beauty of the Philippines.

First time ko din. Lahat first time halos. Pati sa Pagudpud pumunta kami first time ko rin. Nabagyo kami. Unforgettable. Sobrang saya. Workcation talaga siya,” he added.

In the movie, Teejay plays one of the participants in a travel reality show hosted by Christian Bables.

Teejay said he hopes to do more roles that can help him break out of the boy-next-door image, starting with a new soap opera next year.

Talagang nakaka-inspire magtrabaho. Hindi ko naman first time mag-kontrabida. Nagawa ko na siya sa Mano Po 2. So, ngayon na parang ngayon na binibigyan ulit ako ng kontrabida role, siyempre i-ga-grab ko lang y'ung opportunity kasi nabibigyan ako ng pagkakataon na gumanap pa ng ibang mga roles," he said.

"For 2024, sana more blessings at saka good health and of course, more projects. Isa akong kontrabida dito kaya abangan niyo yan sa January 8,” he added.

Broken Hearts Trip stars Christian Bables, Teejay Marquez, Iyah Mina, Petite, and Andoy Ranay.

Written by Archie Del Mundo, the film was produced by Benjie Cabrera, Omar Tolentino, Power Up Workpool Inc., BMC Films, and Smart Films.

Watch Broken Hearts Trip at the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival starting December 25, Monday, in cinemas nationwide.
