With a career that includes more than a hundred movies and has spanned more than 35 years in the industry, Tonton Gutierrez revealed that there really is no big secret to his eternal good looks. The 55-year-old-actor still looks as youthful as he did decades ago when he was first introduced as Sharon Cuneta’s leading man in the 1986 film Sana’y Wala ng Wakas.

“I don’t know. Wala naman akong sikreto. Wala naman akong beauty regimen. The secret behind it is to be relaxed with life. Kung meron mang mga problemang dumarating, hanapan mo ng solusyon ngayon, hindi dumating, okay lang. Let it pass. And darating at darating din yung sagot sa solusyon na yun. So I guess I sleep early. Mga 8 o’clock, 9 o’clock, 10 o’clock tulog na ako (laughs). May edad na rin talaga. Dahil sa edad. I just stay relaxed and be happy with my family. Being happy with my family, yun lang ang sikreto,” he shared during the presscon of his latest film Unspoken Letters.

In real life, Tonton said he was not the type to write romantic letters to his wife of 19 years, actress Glydel Mercado, who is also part of the cast of Unspoken Letters.

“Hindi ako, thank God for texting (laughs). I really have bad handwriting. Okay naman nakakasulat naman ako. Pero yung panliligaw, on the set na yun eh. Magkasama kami nun eh so may telephone, may beeper nung panahon na yun. I would write her sa mga cards pag Christmas at birthday, dati yun. Ngayon mas sinasabi ko na at tinitext ko na siya,” he admitted. The couple have two daughters together, Aneeza and Aneeka.
