As a K-Drama fan herself, Kim Chiu is elated to be part of the Filipino adaptation of What's Wrong with Secretary Kim?

"I'm very happy to do this project and mag-land siya sa akin kasi I am also a fan ng mga [Korean] series di ba? During pandemic pinanood ko talaga 'to so I'm happy to be the secretary Kim of the Philippines," she said in an interview with ABS-CBN News. 

In the series, Kim will star alongside Paulo Avelino who will be playing the role of Vice-Chairman. The show will be Paulo's second original adaptation for Viu after he previously starred in the Philippine adaptation of the K-Drama Flower of Evil.

"I am very blessed and very grateful that they considered me Vice-Chairman. I am very excited to work with Viu again," he said.

Korea's What's Wrong with Secretary Kim starred Park Seo-joon as Vice-Chairman and Park Min-young as Kim Mi-so.

When asked if they feel pressured considering that the K-Drama was a massive hit, Kim replied: "Siyempre meron of course kasi hindi naman maiiwasan na hindi ma-compare 'yung pag may paggagayahan. Siguro lalagyan na  lang namin ng a taste of Filipino touch."

Meanwhile, Paulo admitted that he is pressured of the fact that Seo-joon is a well-loved actor globally.

"Grabe 'yung pressure sa akin kasi everyone loves the actor who played in Secretary Kim so I'm trying my best to look the part and play the part properly," he said.

Paulo and Kim previously starred in the hit Prime series Linlang.

"I think a big reason why they considered me for this project was because of the success of Linlang and to everyone who watched Linlang and supported Linlang, thank you. It's because of you guys its the reason why I was even considered to be cast here," Paulo said.

As they were doing heavy drama in Linlang, Kim is looking forward to doing a different genre with Paulo this time.

"Dun sa Linlang sobrang intense, heavy minsan niyo lang kami makikitang nakangiti sa isa't isa. Ito pwede na kaming makapagbigay ng maraming smiles and all. So sobrang complete opposite siya which were very thankful din na sinuportahin kami sa Linlang and we are doing this prokect ngayon with Viu so sobrang happy and excited again to do a different dynamics with Paulo," Kim said.

What's Wrong with Secretary Kim is a co-production between ABS-CBN and Viu. It is set to be released in 2024.
