Earlier this week, Jake Zyrus’s mom Raquel Pempengco reached out to her son following the death of her mother and her brother. Jake’s grandmother Teopista “Tess" Pineda Relucio passed away last April 3 followed by her uncle Robert Pineda Relucio who died in a motorcycle accident last April 6, Wednesday. The mother of the “Fix Me” singer admitted in an interview with PEP that her son has yet to reach out to her and she also asked the public for financial assistance for the cremation of both of her relatives.

On April 8, Jake sent a statement to ABS-CBN News through his talent manager Carl Cabral, addressing those who have sent their family messages of sympathy and support. The statement reads, “This is a heartbreaking time for the family and those who love them dearly. Let us help the bereaved to mourn privately. We greatly appreciate your sincere sympathy during this time of grief and loss."

After coming out in 2013, Jake started his journey as a transgender man in 2017 after having male chest reconstruction and beginning testosterone treatment and changing his name from Charice Pempengco to Jake Zyrus. Last year, he released the single “Fix Me” which he admitted inspired him to fix his anxiety issues.
