Regine Velasquez admitted that she felt hurt when her close friend and fellow singer Jaya left the Philippines.

In an episode of Magandang Buhay, Asia's Songbird opened up about how she felt when Jaya moved overseas.

"Nahu-hurt ako kasi feeling ko iniwan ako ng kaibigan ko so hindi ko siya kinausap pero although nag-usap na kami pero hindi ko masabi na nahu-hurt ako kasi iniiwan mo ako, ganun 'yung feeling ko. Kasi parang di ba magkaibigan tayo dapat di ba lagi tayong magkasama? But I know that meron siyang reason why she needed to leave and naiintindihan ko naman 'yun, ayaw ko lang intindihin, alam mo 'yun," she shared.

Regine remarked that she also does not understand why she's feeling like this about Jaya's departure from the country.

"The thing is I'm not usually like that, I am a very understanding person sige kung saan ka masaya. I don't know why I am like this with her maybe because nga 'yung sa dami na ng pinagdaanan namin and I wanted for her to be here and I am being possessive maybe and maybe I am being selfish but I know she understands naman," she stated.

She added that it was also hard to be apart from Jaya because they already shared a lot of memories together.

"Marami na rin kaming pinagdaanan, never naman kaming nag-away. Maraming ups and downs so witness pati siya sa daming nangyari sa buhay namin mag-asawa," she stated.

On April 22, Jaya penned a birthday message for Regine on social media.

In her birthday post for Regine, Jaya remarked that she is honored to have her as her friend. She also expressed how she misses the Songbird.

"Regina!!! Happiest birthday to you my dear Kumare, sister in Christ, super friend, kachika at ka-duet ng bongga I am so honored to have you in my life and yes, I have memories with you that I will forever cherish," Jaya wrote.

She added, "Napakabuti ng iyong puso at mahal ka naming lahat. Friend kita, pero idol din kita!!! I love you and miss you. Hope you enjoy your day. God bless you more my dear friend… ayan na naiyak na naman ako."

It was in March 2021 when Jaya revealed that she was leaving the Philippines for the US.

Jaya made the decision after experiencing various challenges during the lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Naramdaman ko lang na nag-focus ako sa isang bagay na hindi ko alam, nalulungkot na pala ako, natatakot, at nadi-depress. I started to lose weight. Hindi ko na-anticipate na hindi na pala ako kumakain nang tama o tamang oras, o nag-one meal a day lang ako. Hindi ko 'yun napansin. And of course, I have my kids here… wala namang problema," she said in an interview with PEP back in March 2021.

She also added that her husband Gary Gotidoc suffered a stroke that time.

The singer relayed that they were able to sell their property in Tarlac and then they used the money for their relocation to the US.

“You know, God had better plans. He made us sell the property, nagbayad the same day… that was January 5… January 7, they departed. They were able to find a job 22 hours later and they were able to find a home to rent na ang laki-laki, ang ganda-ganda na parang pwede ba nating bilhin 'yun someday? Hindi naman binebenta… but you know, He provides,” she said.
