BGYO and BINI — two of the biggest groups in the country today — made history as the first-ever Filipino celebrities to land an NFT (Non-fungible token) cover for Dubai-based magazine Xpedition.

NFTs are any types of data — including music, games, and works of art — that can be sold and traded on a specific platform.

Members of the two P-Pop groups attended the launching event of Xpedition through a 3D digital space in an interactive app called Spatial.

Visitors can roam around the space which features a “metaverse” showcasing the covers shot by Lucas Alves.

The event kicked off with messages from the people behind the one-of-a-kind event including Josh Yugen, the founder and editor-in-chief of Xpedition.

“This NFT cover launch for BINI and BGYO was designed to shift our conception of online interaction and ultimately create a space where all can come together to work and/or play in virtual reality,” Josh said.

Gianna Valentine Director of Marketing and Partnerships at Spatial called the event a historic moment.

Josh Yugen also described BGYO and BINI as some of the “most talented and hardworking celebrities” he had worked with and called them “role models for the youth.”

“XPEDITION always explores innovation and cutting-edge technology and at the same time, we always believe in the power of young people. For me, BINI and BGYO are some of the most talented and hardworking celebrities that I have worked with aside from being polite, kind, and humble — a true role model for the modern youth,” Josh said.

The two-day virtual gallery of Xpedition magazine will only last until February 24 on the spatial app.

Two other Filipinos made history in the unveiling of the NFT cover including Xpedition co-founder Ian Borromeo and fashion designer Furne Amato.

The members of BINI include Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena while BGYO is composed of Akira, Gelo, JL, Mikki, and Nate.
