Maxene Magalona on Wednesday, January 5, expressed her appreciation for her parents-in-law amid rumors that she and her husband, musician Rob Mananquil, have parted ways.

In her Instagram post, the Viral Scandal actress shared that she celebrated last New Year's Eve having dinner with her in-laws, whom she enjoys spending time with.

She also credited her in-laws for being instrumental in her growth, as she stressed that family isn't always blood.

“Family isn’t always about blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what," began Maxene.

"I spent New Year’s eve having dinner with my in-laws Dad #RobertoMananquil and Mom @milletmartinezmananquil. Every time I hang out with them, I learn and enjoy so much. I love hearing Dad’s funny jokes that make me laugh so much as well as Mom’s stories from the past that come with life lessons which I cherish and keep with me forever," she continued.

"I just want to take this moment to show my love and gratitude for two of the kindest and most unconditionally loving souls that I’ve ever met in this lifetime. I wouldn’t be the person I am today if not for them. The love that they have for me and their children is just so pure and rare which is why I would like to honor and share it. God bless you both!" she added.

Maxene and Rob tied the knot in a church ceremony and a beach wedding in Boracay on January 11, 2018, less than a year after they got engaged in Japan.

Rumors that they separated surfaced early this year, after eagle-eyed fans noticed that Maxene dropped Mananquil as her surname on Instagram, in addition to unfollowing her husband on the social media platform.

Maxene has yet to address the speculation, but in a recent Instagram post, the actress told her fans to stop coming to her page for gossip.

"It is not polite to ask people about their personal lives, especially when you don’t know them personally. And even if you DO know them, you should give them space and wait for them to open up to you instead of prying and wanting to invade their privacy," she said.

She pointed out that just because she is a public figure doesn't mean she owes her private stories to the public.

"We all have the right to choose when and who we will share our stories with," she added.
