A clip of Winwyn Marquez’ stint at the Reina Hispanoamericana pageant in 2017 went viral recently and the actress could not help but be proud of her achievement by reposting the video on Instagram. Winwyn was the first Filipina to take home the crown from the Latin country-dominated pageant.
Coincidentally, Miss Universe Philippines has opened its applications for a new batch of future beauty queens, which prompted netizens to urge Winwyn to try out and cinch another Miss Universe crown for the country.
To answer the clamor, Winwyn shared her never-before-seen pictures at the Reina Hispanoamericana pageant and said: “I am overwhelmed with all your messages grabe non-stop. 2015 and 2017 ako sumali [Binibining Pilipinas] .. ngayon 2021 na at hanggang ngayon ganon pa din kayo [her supporters]. Thank you so much pero hanggang sa pag-support na lang ako sa mga candidates natin and sa mga gusto sumali ng pageants 😘”
She concluded her post by saying, “Minsan magbubukas talaga ng ibang chapter sa buhay natin and need mag-move on sa ibang bagay but sabi nga di ba once a Miss Philippines, always a Miss Philippines.”
In response, her fans have quickly replied to her post and said they respect and support her decision.
Last year, Winwyn shared that she is now also a Philippine Marine Reservist and continued with her training despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Aside from competing in pageants and joining the army, the 28-year-old daughter of Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno fulfilled her dream of becoming an educator last year when she finished her bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management.
