Currently playing the role of Gerald Anderson’s friend Paulina in the new drama series Init Sa Magdamag, Mica Javier said her role was very exciting to do.

After getting married to singer Jay R last year, Mica said she had to adjust going back to work under the new normal.

Ito yung first taping ko after lockdown. So nung umpisa talagang nag-struggle ako sa letting go of the fear of COVID unang unang una. Tapos this time wala ka talagang katulong, wala kang personal assistant, walang magbibitbit ng gamit mo.

“So lahat yun on top of memorizing the lines, alam niyo naman hirap ako sa Tagalog so lagi ko talagang iniisip pag pumupunta ako sa set. Pero despite all of those extra challenges na dinulot nitong bagong set up, once nakatapak na ako sa set, parang may nag-ki-click na lang na alam ko kung ano yung character ko, kung sino ako, and na-enjoy ko talaga siya,” she recalled.

Compared to her taping experience before the pandemic, Mica said she appreciated having less people on the set.

Parang you have the creative freedom and the silence in your own little world sa holding area mo na mag-create kung anong gagawin mo sa sarili mo. Less distractions siya so yun yung kaibahan,” she explained.

Compared to her previous character onscreen, Mica said her role as Paulina on Init Sa Magdamag would have a different take.

“I really had to parang try to forget na naging Lupita ako na sobrang bad ass, sobrang maangas and strong masyado yung presence niya on cam. The character of Paulina did not require that level of intensity so isang malaking nakatulong is direk Raymond (Ocampo) kasi siya yung nag-pilot sa Los Bastardos. So nung una kong araw sa set nakita ko siya agad tapos sabi niya, ‘Kayang kaya mo ‘to. Super light compared kay Lupita.’ So when I got the support from direk Raymond parang nagkaroon din ako ng confidence na i-explore yung mas feminine side ng pagkatao ko (laughs).

“Since this is only my second teleserye after Los Bastardos, I wanted to make sure that I bring justice to the character also kahit na ibang iba siya. And as an actor, as an avid student of acting, gusto ko na mahasa ako sa iba-ibang roles, na hindi ako ma-typecast sa isa lang. So excited ako makita ang mga eksena ko pero feeling ko naman okay yung nangyari,” she added.
