As part of the newly launched Squad Plus, Jimuel Pacquiao said he did not imagine he would be joining showbiz.

“At first, I never thought of myself as an actor. But then, there are lots of offers here and there. They always say na when you are young, always try everything. So naisipan ko na subukan kasi even in high school I had experience din naman when it comes to acting so I want to give it a try and see how it goes from here,” he shared during the Squad Plus media launch held last April 26.

Before accepting the offer to join Squad Plus, the 19-year-old athlete and aspiring actor shared how his parents Manny and Jinkee Pacquiao reacted to his decision to join showbiz.

“They’re very supportive naman kasi kung papapipiliin sila, showbiz or boxing, siyempre dun sila sa showbiz kasi ayaw nila akong mag-boxing. When it comes to showbiz, they’re very supportive naman. They made sure in the beginning na I really wanted to go in kasi it’s very taxing daw schedule-wise. So parang tinanong nila talaga ako bago ako pumasok,” he said.

Having grown up in the spotlight even before becoming a Star Magic artist, Jimuel said he is not afraid of intrigues that go with becoming a celebrity.

“Yeah medyo sanay na ako ngayon kasi ever since kahit nung maliit pa kami, grabe na yung attention sa dad ko. Every time he has his fights, nasasali kami sa mga interviews, ganun. And marami ding nag-co-comment on social media about us. So siguro I’m used to it na. I try to parang balance it out, what I show to people. Meron pa rin naman akong private life. Like I know what not to show to people and stuff like that. I think it’s because I’m used to it na ngayon since maliit pa kami,” he explained.

During the event, Jimuel also shared the most important advice his parents gave him. “Yung pinaka-importante talaga is with God talaga. Always glorify God in everything that you do because everything will just follow. So if you focus on God and always focus on glorifying him in everything, susunod na lang lahat. Yun po yung lagi nilang sinasabi sa akin. Yung advice nila is always be passionate and always follow God and everything will follow,” he said.

When asked if he would like to have a love team partner, Jimuel shared why that is not on top of his priority list. “Sa ngayon siguro when it comes to love teams, it’s not really like one of the things na pinaka gusto ko, pero I’m willing to be versatile naman and I’m just waiting for opportunities sa ngayon. First, I still have a lot to work on and I’m still a newbie here so easy start muna and then work myself up. I think that’s the plan,” he shared.
