With the fourth EDDYS (Entertainment Editors’ Choice) of the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) now scheduled on its new streaming date on April 4, Easter Sunday, 8 p.m., on the FDCP Channel (fdcpchannel.ph) and other digital platforms, the awards night is set to be led by Batangas 6th District Representative and veteran actress Vilma Santos and AKTOR Chairman of the Board Dingdong Dantes and will be directed by Ice Seguerra.
Known as the country’s Star for all Seasons, Vilma Santos was the first recipient of the EDDYS Best Actress award for her film Everything About Her in 2017 while Dingdong won EDDYS Best Actor for his Sid & Aya in 2019. This event is in cooperation with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) led by Chairperson/CEO Liza Diño-Seguerra.
Quality local films from the past year will be competing in 14 different categories. Notable artists and personalities will also be given recognition for their contribution to the industry. The 2021 Icon awardees are Tommy Abuel, Pilar Pilapil, Boots Anson-Rodrigo, Gina Pareño, Dante Rivero, Ronaldo Valdez, Joel Lamangan, Ricky Lee, and Caridad Sanchez.
This year also marks the launch of the Isah V. Red Award to give recognition to the SPEED founding president and late entertainment editor. The first recipients of the IVR award include Ramon Ang, Senator Bong Revilla, Kim Chiu, Angel Locsin, Claire de Leon-Papa, and Rhea Anicoche-Tan. Other special awardees this year include Lolit Solis (Joe Quirino Award); Mario Bautista (Manny Pichel Award); Black Sheep Productions (Rising Producers Circle Award); and The IdeaFirst Company (Producer of the Year Award).
In their third year of collaborating with the FDCP, chairman Liza Dino-Seguerra said, “Ikinararangal ko pong maging kabahagi ng EDDYS ang FDCP.
