LOOK: Dolphy becomes Google Doodle in honor of his 92nd birthday

Google Philippines paid tribute to "King of Comedy" Rodolfo "Dolphy" Quizon on his 92nd birthday. The tech giant featured the comedian as a Google Doodle on Saturday, July 25.

"Google Philippines is proud to showcase one of our country's iconic entertainment personalities to the world," Mervin Wenke, head of communications and public affairs for Google Philippines, remarked as reported by news site Rappler.

Mervin added that Google hopes that Filipinos will be "reminded of Dolphy's legacy and how he taught everyone to find joy in everyday life."

"Through this Google Doodle, we recognize and pay tribute to Dolphy's remarkable talent and passion which have made a significant impact in the local entertainment industry, bringing laughter to generations of Filipinos," he stated.

Dolphy’s career in the entertainment industry started when he was 19 after he landed a small role in a film.

He starred in various hit shows like Buhay Artista, John en Marsha, and Home Along da Riles.

Dolphy passed away on July 10, 2012 at the age of 83 due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Last July 10, Dolphy's former partner Zsa Zsa Padilla, marked the 8th death anniversary of the late comedian.

“Today marks the 8th death anniversary of Dolphy. Please say a little prayer for him,” she stated.

“I miss him everyday and I know that he is always with me in spirit. Please write a little something below to let me know how his life work has influenced you or your parents/grandparents. I’ll be so happy to know how he has put laughter in your hearts. That way, his memory lives on,” Zsa Zsa remarked.

Dolphy’s son, Eric Quizon, thanked Google for honoring his father’s legacy.

“Google honors Dolphy with a doodle on his birthday. Thank you Google for continuing my Dad's legacy. #GoogleDoodleForDolphy,” he said.
