For the first time, actress Jodi Sta. Maria tries her hand at being a producer.

During the story conference for the upcoming iWant original series My Single Lady with Ian Veneracion and Zanjoe Marudo, Jodi, who is also the leading lady in the story, was revealed to be the project's producer.

Sharing that she thought of venturing to producing early this year, she said, "Parang I started to contemplate, what's next after this? Why not try this one? Baka may opening, may posibilidad, baka may oportunidad, gano'n. Pero nauna 'yung application eh kasi ang balak ko talaga, mag-aral muna ng film producing. Pero nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon makapag-produce agad. So next year na 'yung pag-aaral."

Given her plans to study abroad in the years to come, does this mean that she will take a showbiz hiatus?

"It's not going to be parang super long, let's say two years, hindi ganoon. Parang 12-week program na papasukin ko," she answered.

Meanwhile, talking about the series that she is working on, she relayed to the press, "Actually this is a collaboration with Dreamscape Entertainment. Kumbaga may materyal na rin sila eh. 'Yung konsepto and 'yung material ni Direk Carlo (Catu)."

She also looks forward to producing other projects as well, "Of course mayroon pa rin naman talaga akong work as an actor with ABS-CBN but hopefully, for other projects, mas gusto kong mas matutukan maigi 'yung set. Mas magagawa ko 'yung kung hindi ako 'yung lead actor doon sa proyektong gagawin ko."
