After finishing her first concert tour in London earlier this month. Lea Salonga is back in the country and already preparing for her special two-night concert Perfect Ten on August 30 and 31. The Broadway star said she was very happy that Rachelle Ann Go was able to be part of her very last show. “We have the same manager and there was a discussion to have her come and sing with us for the two Sunday shows in London. She was still on vocal rest so we opted that the second show, the very, very last show she’ll sing. So she comes out dressed like a million bucks with those royal blue high heels and of course she’s stunning to look at. And she sang ‘I Know Him So Well’ with me,” she shared during the Perfect Ten presscon held at the Resorts World Manila last July 30 in Pasay city.

The last time they performed together on stage was almost five years ago during the 25th anniversary of the Miss Saigon and Lea said that Rachelle is really making waves in West End. “The cool thing about who she is now in the West End is all I had to say was, without even saying her name, ‘She’s currently playing Elisa Skylar…’ and the whole place felt like it was about to explode. The applause was deafening that as she was walking on stage, I couldn’t hear the intro to the song. It was that loud. Which is great for her that the fans were just screaming and she walked out a star. It made me feel so happy and proud that the audience responded to her that way. And then the next day we saw her in Hamilton and she’s of course amazing,” she recalled.

Out of all the local performers who have tried to break into the international market, Lea said that the Hamilton actress is up there when it comes to what she has already achieved at the West End. “She’s probably one of the closest ones I guess. But it’s hard to say because she has to kind of follow her own path. She has to blaze her own trail. And then I’m hoping that there’s more. Joaquin Valdez is also out there now and he’s in the King and I. So now he’s working with Kelly O’Hara and Ken Watanabe. So it makes me happy that there are homegrown talents that are doing well not just here,” she said.
