Jake Cuenca’s theatrical debut last year has gained scores of positive reviews from critics that it didn’t take long before an international site for everything broadway catch sight of his acting prowess.

Through Instagram, the hunk actor announced last Saturday that BroadWay World named him Best Actor (Play) and Best Crossover Artist (Mainstream to Theater), for ‘Lungs’, a one-act play he topbilled opposite actress Sab Jose which had a two-week run beginning in September and ending in October. The project is helmed by no less than Olivier Award-nominated British writer Duncan Macmillan, courtesy of The Sand Box Collective and 9 Works Theatrical.

“I couldn’t ask for more in my theatrical debut. Thank you, [BroadwayWorld], I am honored to receive both awards... I’m thankful and blessed,” says Jake, citing that he’s looking forward to doing more in the future.

It is to be recalled that BroadWay World first recognized a Filipino talent through singer-actress Rachelle Ann Go as Best Actress in a New Production of a Musical for her excellent portrayal of Eliza Schuyler in the West End production of Hamilton.
