Known for his role on Korean drama “Boys Over Flowers” in 2009, Kim Bum shocked his fans after revealing he has been suffering from a degenerative illness.

The Korean actor, who has began his military duties last April 26, has announced through an official statement from his agency that he has been diagnosed with degenerative arthritis in his 20s.

“Because of a hereditary illness, Kim Bum has been receiving treatment ever since his early 20’s. He has tried to overcome the illness through medication and exercising,” King Kong Entertainment stated.

The agency added that because of Kim Bum’s health condition, he will be assigned to a public social worker position in the military. He will also be returning to show business after 2 years.

The 28-year-old has also recently admitted to dating actress and “Korean Odyssey” star Oh Yeon Seo.
