It’s been more than a decade since she left showbiz but Nanette Medved said she is happy with her life right now as a happily married mother of two. The former actress was also recently honored as one of the 25 stylish Pinays during Bayo’s 25th anniversary. “I was of course very honored because I’m with a bunch of very accomplished and inspiring women. I was honored to be included in the line up. When I was in show business of course I had to dress according to whatever it is I was promoting but now that I’m no longer in showbiz I just dress for myself and I just like to be comfortable. Of course (I miss showbiz because) there’s so many lovely people in the business but I still get to see them even if I’m not in show business anymore,” she shared during the Bayo at 25 fashion show held last September 25 in Makati city.

Being one of the actresses who played Darna in 1991, Nanette said she is happy for Liza Soberano who will be bringing the iconic Pinoy superhero to the big screen once again. “I’m so happy for her. It’s such a wonderful experience. I hope that she cherishes every moment because it’s really such a unique experience and you take a lot from it so I’m sure she’s going to enjoy it. I’m not sure how the new Darna will do it, but back when I was doing it I did all my own stunts so I went to a camp for stuntmen and learned how to do all the things that were needed including martial arts so it was a good experience. It was really good,” she shared.

At 46 years old, Nanette said she does not have any special secret to still looking as sexy as she was when she played Darna. “It’s just good lighting (laughs). That’s it. I don’t know. Maybe it’s running after my two kids. That’s enough exercise. I think just eating right is always a good strategy,” she said. If there was any advice the former Darna could give for the young actress, it is to live in the moment. “Just enjoy every moment. It’s such a privilege and unique experience to play Darna so I just hope she enjoys it. It’s something that she’ll be able to carry the rest of her life, being able to say I played Darna,” she added.

As the founder of organizations like Generation Hope Inc. and Friends of Hope Inc., Nanette said she hopes more people–celebrities or not–can be inspired to help others in need. “We’re doing wonderful and I continue to work on that everyday. We have co-branded projects but it’s always going to be Hope and it’s always going to be focused on education and livelihood. I think personally other than the privilege of playing Darna and the uniqueness of it, I think in my case I took it to heart that there’s a lot that someone can do with their position and you may not be Darna but anybody in the business or even outside, if you have a little bit of influence in your life then do wonderful things,” she explained.
