ER made the announcement on Monday afternoon via his official Facebook Fanpage complete with a movie poster and tagline. He, however, has yet to post a release date for SAF.

The film will be directed by Pedring Lopez which goes with the tagline 'Para sa Diyos, Para sa Bayan, Para sa Tao.'

Revealing why he came up with the idea of making a film, the poster came with a caption that read: “Bilang pagpupugay natin sa 44 bayani ng Elite PNP-SAF officers na nagbuwis ng buhay sa Mamasapano clash, isasapelikula ng inyong lingkod ang makulay na buhay at kabayanihan ng ating mga magigiting na sundalo upang mabigyan ng tamang pagkilala at pagpupugay ang #?Fallen44?

However, his latest film project got divided reactions from his followers.

There are those who lauded the actor-turned-politician and said, “Napakagaling ni E.R. isa kang Pinuno na walang takot ipahayag ay saloobin.” [sic]

Another commenter stressed that, “Dapat gawan tlaga n ng pelikula bgo mklimutan ng taong byan ang sinapit ng 44 saf. Ok aq dyan.” [sic]

Some even expressed their excitement for the film while others agreed with the film’s purpose and even suggested that portion of its earnings be donated to the family of the Fallen 44.

“I will rather watch this if the story will not focus on how these brave men of saf44 dies but i want to see how they live a life [sic],” said another commenter.

Although many saw ER’s aim as patriotic, there are those netizens who viewed his move as a mere politicking.

Another netizen chastised ER and said, “Ok na sana kung di ikaw diba.politika nga naman.if you really want to pay tribute to them, wag mo sila gamitin sa pagpapapogi mo.tsk tsk.”

Another said, “Under investigation pa ang incident and the movie will only lead to a misleading conclusion. Besides the families are still grieving. Reminding them on and on of what happened to their dead would only prolong their grief and trauma.”

Amid all the varying opinions, one commenter pointed out that “Wag niyo din po kalimutan na araw-araw may nasasawing mga batang sundalo ng AFP, sila din po yung mga bayaning nagbuwis ng buhay ngunit hindi alam ng nakararami.
