Denise Laurel shared that Your Face Sounds Familiar has helped her to be brave again when it comes to performing onstage. “[I learned to] just to trust the production, the teachers, the judges and to trust in yourself and God na hindi ka nila bibigyan ng something na they don’t think you could challenge yourself or do so sobrang natutuwa ako na parang from being so scared nandon pa rin ‘yung kaba at takot. Pero slowly I’m getting to a point where I can finally stop thinking and just enjoy ‘yung katulad ako kung paano ako dati nong mas bata pa ako and that’s actually what I want to learn to go back to being brave on stage,” she stated in an interview with Push.com.ph.

Denise said that her fiancé Sol Mercado is very supportive of her stint in Your Face Sounds Familiar and that the latter is actually a big fan of the show. “He loves watching the show. He is actually a fan of everyone. Sobrang hangang-hanga siya sa mga artists tulad ni Melai (Cantiveros) kahit minsan wala siyang maintindihan sa tagalog tawa ng tawa pa rin siya kasi he’s so entertained by the show and the vibe of everyone. He’s just happy for me and he’s fan of the show,” she said.

Now that she is performing again, the Kapamilya star said that she hopes of fulfilling her long-time dream of having an album. “It’s always been a dream so hopefully after You’re Face ma-fulfill naman ‘yung dream na ‘yun,” she said.

Does she also want to star in a musical theater again? “You know what, [if] I would do it, I would love to and I would have to do it na wala akong soap kasi I wouldn’t want na ipagsabay ‘yung dalawa dahil I won’t be able to give my 200% to both but yeah I would love to if the right musical play will come along.”

Denise also dreams of performing with Broadway star Lea Salonga. “If she would have me, why not, I would love to. Ang tagal pa ng birthday prod ko but if I have if they give me free range to do a number and I could choose who I want to be with, it will be with her.”
