On abs-cbnnews.com, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) met with the representatives of the noontime show It’s Showtime on issues raised specifically about the segment ‘Nasaan Ka, Mr. Pastillas.’ This in line with the complaint filed by Gabriela claiming that the show is “pimping” Angelica Jane Yap, better known as “Pastillas Girl.”
MTRCB called for increased vigilance with regards to the way the show portrays and depicts women. The body has supplied the management with suggestions that may serve as guidelines to improve the segment as well as protect Pastillas Girl’s “dignity as a young woman.” These include the introduction of scenes that will represent women empowerment even at a young age, as well as briefing Pastillas Girl prior to an episode to avoid the use of inappropriate words or actions.
Moreover, the body also relayed concerns of viewers on the etiquette of some of the show’s participants. It emphasized vigilance so as not to “violate any norm of gender-sensitivity or other rule.”
