Currently playing the role of Magdalena Layer in the new Primetime Bida series Honesto, Angel Aquino said she is happy to play another interesting role. “I was so excited kasi at least something light kahit na may pagka-rough pa rin siya on the edges. It’s something light kasi it’s funny, dahil pambata siya. I was so excited about it. I needed a breather from all the very intense scenes I’ve done in the past so it just came at the perfect time because I prayed for it. Sabi ko sana gumawa naman ako ng magaan ng konti. I am enjoying it so much, my bangs, my colored hair, ganun (laughs),” she said.

Angel said she can relate to her character Lena who is a very colorful character. “Oh my God, similar kami in a way that I can be that real and I can be that galawgaw. People don't know about that but I can be that child-like that’s why I enjoy playing Magdalena,” she admitted.

The new series espouses the value of being honest which is one of the attributes Angel is proud of in terms of her showbiz career as well. “When I started in showbiz, my manager decided na hindi naming itatago yung mga anak, yung buhay ko and I’m very proud of that. At least for the major things in my life I was very truthful about those things and bumunga naman siya ng mabuti. The industry was very welcoming and loved me for who I am and I think ina-attribute ko yan sa pagiging honest ko nga in the beginning,” she added.

In Honesto, Angel is once again paired with award-winning actor Joel Torre who first played her husband in On The Job. “Nung nag-work kami sa OTJ, yun yung first time that we had to work closely. Una ko siyang nakatrabaho sa Mumbaki which was in 1997 and ang mga scenes namin were far from each other so hindi ko talaga siya naka-eksena pero dito parang it was instant maybe because from an actor to an actor meron na kaming ganung understanding na whatever is done is needed for the role, nothing that is beyond that. Tapos the respect we had for each other was always there. It was nothing that we had to talk about. It was intrinsic for both of us,” she said of their instant onscreen chemistry.

The 40-year-old actress also said she learned a lot about acting from Joel while making the movie. “I just remember taking it all from him. Basta I would take his cues. Pinanuod ko lang talaga siya and I let him guide me. Para kaming yung nagsasayaw and he was my dance instructor, parang ganun (laughs),” she added.

As one of the prettiest faces in showbiz, Angel shared the secret to her youthful beauty. “I guess I have to thank God for giving me such a gift. Kasi para sa akin it is a gift that He gave me and I will take care of it kaya inaalagan ko talaga mabuti yung sarili ko, my health, my being, and my physical, spiritual and mental being. Inaalagaan ko yan lahat kasi I owe this to God who created me,” she said.

As of the moment, Angel said she is not looking for a love life after her one-year relationship with a businessman ended. “Ngayon wala. Hindi muna. Ang daming ginagawa. Ang sarap ng maraming ginagawa. Wala na kami, last year pa. One year lang kami, buti na lang (laughs) less than a year. Hindi nagkasundo. Next question please (laughs),” she said.

When asked to comment about the reported growing friendship between her ex-boyfriend Lui Villaruz and Ai-Ai De las Alas, Angel admitted she was surprised to hear the news. “Wow. Ngayon ko lang narinig yun. Good for them. Ganun, Miss Ai good luck (laughs). Wala, good luck sa kanya kasi if she would be entering into a relationship with Lui then I wish them both good luck and happy hearts and a happy life together,” she said.
