080412-angel-main.jpgAfter doing popular Kapamilya series Maria La Del Barrio and Magkaribal, Angel Aquino looks forward to another challenging role in the upcoming drama Apoy Sa Dagat, which is coming out later this year. The pretty actress is also working on several movie projects which includes an indie film. “It’s with the independent movie arm of Star Cinema so were working on Amorosa with Enrique Gil and Martin del Rosario, Empress and Jane Oineza and it’s directed by Topel Lee,” she shares.

After playing a variety of roles, Angel says she is not afraid of being typecast as a kontrabida just because she can be very effective as one, as proven by her role as the vengeful and power-hungry Vera in Magkaribal. “It’s more fun to do kontrabida roles. Being mabait is challenging because they’ll always make you cry. When you’re a good person, I don’t know why you cry so much. But then pag kontrabida naman, there’s the crying but there’s also the maldita part which is fun to do.”

Angel gets to enjoy the best of both worlds working as a host and actress at the same time. “Hosting is a good breather for me. I enjoy doing it very, very much and I just have fun. I have fun with my crew, with my staff. Kasi it’s the same people from Us Girls eh. I’m at home already. But then again acting keeps me on my toes so that’s why I like doing both. With acting, your not so complacent, you’re always challenged delivering what’s needed to be there,” she reveals during the Interior Motives press launch held last August 2.

Angel is the host of cable channel Lifestyle Network’s newest show Interior Motives every Saturday night. In this show, Angel, delves into the world of interior design. “I don’t have a background on interior designing but this is some kind of treat for me because the show gives me ideas and it’s very informative. When I watch these things I still get surprised that na parang, ‘Wow I’m a host?’ I wish to keep doing both. I really do. But this is me, that’s the real me, slightly glamorous and polished and glossy but in acting kasi I see a lot of different people that I can be,” she admits.

With a lot of projects lined up including hosting a new weekly show, Angel says her personal life will have to take a back seat. “Not right now. For dating no time kasi eh but I’m having fun doing this and then my kids, so my plate is full. No space for that. Instead of me spending my free time with other people, eh di with them na lang.

The 39-year-old mother to two teenagers admits she still tries to make time for her kids even with a busy shooting schedule. “I try to bring them in as much as I can especially if they’re on vacation, I take them to work with me. But they’re big girls na, they’re not even kids anymore, Iana is 19 and the Thea is turning 17. Now we’re like barkada. We like watching movies together and eating and going out of town. So that’s our bonding. And it’s a nice thing that I get to borrow clothes from them and I want to keep it that way (laughs),” she says.

Catch Angel Aquino on Interior Motives every Saturday, 7pm exclusively on the Lifestyle Network, with replays every day. Lifestyle Network is aired on SkyCable channel 52
