Actress LJ Reyes surprised her followers when she announced on Tuesday, May 30 (PH Time). that she is engaged.

LJ, who currently resides in New York, revealed that she is getting married to her boyfriend Philip Evangelista. She shared the news with photos of the romantic proposal on Instagram, which she captioned with a Bible verse.

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’ Jeremiah 29:11 NLT,” LJ wrote.

LJ’s engagement comes over a year after she split from her partner of six years, Paolo Contis. Paolo is now in a relationship with his A Faraway Land co-star Yen Santos.

LJ and Paolo share a daughter, Summer, who turned 4 years old last January. At the height of the controversy surrounding their breakup, LJ moved to New York with Summer and her eldest child, Aki (from her previous relationship with Paulo Avelino). The 35-year-old actress cited the reason for their move as a way to “mentally and emotionally recover as a family.”

Last year, LJ admitted that she was still in the process of healing from her split with Paolo.

"There are days that I find it difficult to...ang hirap nito. Okay, nandito kayo ng mga bata. Kailangan kayanin mo. Halos minu-minuto akong nagdadasal. If not, may mga araw na I don't feel okay,” she said.

“It will be a very long journey, a difficult one. Pero, kumakapit na ako sa Diyos... Pinagdadasal ko na mapatawad ko siya kasi I know if I don't forgive him, this very dark emotion will eat me up. And I won't be able to move on with my kids nang maayos. 'Yung walang galit. May pain, hindi mawawala yun,” she added.

After moving to the US last year to be with her mother and sister who are based in New York City, LJ Reyes continues to raise her two children Aki and Summer who are now studying there as well. For her 35th birthday this year, LJ shared what a blessing it was for her to witness something special on Christmas Day which is also her natal day.

In her Instagram post, she wrote, “Christmas Day 2022 was an answered prayer for me! I have always hoped that I could attend service on the day which also happens to be my birthday and it finally happened! I attended Christmas service with my kids!

“And on top of that, my kids performed (together, on stage) for the first time! So let me just take this time and be proud of this beautiful proud moment for me— best gift from my kids and of course from God!

“Merry Christmas (indeed), everyone!”

In the same post, the proud mom explained how happy she was with her kids’ performances at their church presentation.

“Summer has always been such a performer! And she melted everyone’s hearts. She likes being on stage and singing and seeing her audience get entertained! Lol🤣 she’s owned the microphone and I couldn’t be prouder!

“Aki, on the other hand, was a revelation! He has been in school band but never really played the drums. Few weeks ago, with the help of church family, we encouraged him to start with drums lessons bec he seemed interested. He only had a few hours to practice this and am so proud of how well he played! ‘ANAK ANG POGI MONG DRUMMER!’ Lol🤣 — sorry na! Proud mom!

“Thank you Lord for these kids! And I pray that they get to honor your through the gifts you have blessed them with! Who know maybe they can make music one day for the glory of Your Name!”

It’s been half a year since LJ Reyes revealed that she had moved to the US along with her two children Aki and Summer. The single mom has been vocal about moving forward with their lives there along with her US-based family which includes her mother and her sister.

Last April 19, LJ shared an appreciation post on her Instagram account dedicated to her son Ethan Aki (with former partner Paulo Avelino) who is turning 12 this coming July. She wrote, “I think I was quite young when I had you, but still the generational gap exists! Can’t deny that! Ako pa rin ang nanay, ikaw pa rin ang anak. There will be days when I wouldn’t understand you right away and vice versa. Di ko na gets music nyo, at nacocornyhan ka sa music namin noon! ang kulit ko parang naka-repeat araw araw sa responsibilities mo, pero makulit ka rin naman sa kakaulit ng game time and currencies mo! After her separation from actor Paolo Contis who was her partner for six years and father of her youngest child Summer, LJ moved abroad along with her children. The 34-year-old actress has not yet revealed any plans to return to showbiz in the near future.

Earlier this month, Paulo Avelino visited his son Aki in Manhattan, New York where LJ and her family are now based. Paulo is currently in the US on a concert tour with Ogie Alcasid and rumored girlfriend Janine Gutierrez with whom he was first paired with in the 2021 romantic drama series Marry Me, Marry You.

LJ Reyes couldn’t help but laugh after Boy Abunda asked her if she is willing to visit Baguio “with a friend.”

She met with the King of Talk for a one-on-one interview in the US where she is currently staying with her family.

The actress gamely answered the question which referenced her breakup with Paolo Contis, saying she is more than willing to go there with a friend without reservations.

It can be recalled that the phrase “with a friend” became a meme on social media following the statement of LJ’s former partner about going to Baguio with Yen Santos.

According to LJ, she will go to Baguio mainly because of the many tourist spots to see there.

“Yes. Why not? I'm proud of Baguio as a Filipino. Maraming pwedeng puntahan doon. Maraming pwedeng kainan,” she said.

LJ went on to explain that Paulo Avelino, her son Aki’s father, is also from Baguio.

“Paulo is from Baguio. May family dun si Aki. Pupunta talaga kami dun,” she remarked.

LJ Reyes couldn’t help but laugh after Boy Abunda asked her if she is willing to visit Baguio “with a friend.”

She met with the King of Talk for a one-on-one interview in the US where she is currently staying with her family.

The actress gamely answered the question which referenced her breakup with Paolo Contis, saying she is more than willing to go there with a friend without reservations.

It can be recalled that the phrase “with a friend” became a meme on social media following the statement of LJ’s former partner about going to Baguio with Yen Santos.

According to LJ, she will go to Baguio mainly because of the many tourist spots to see there.

“Yes. Why not? I'm proud of Baguio as a Filipino. Maraming pwedeng puntahan doon. Maraming pwedeng kainan,” she said.

LJ went on to explain that Paulo Avelino, her son Aki’s father, is also from Baguio.

“Paulo is from Baguio. May family dun si Aki. Pupunta talaga kami dun,” she remarked.

Her breakup with Paolo was the center of controversy for several weeks. Revelations about the decision that led to their separation not being mutual raised even more questions.

The couple has a daughter named Summer.

After being sworn in as a congressman of the 1st district of Quezon City last year, actor Arjo Atayde shared that he does not have a problem balancing his duties as a civil servant and a member of the entertainment industry.

During an event for his exclusive Prime Video series Cattleya Killer, Arjo shared how he is able to do it all.

“Oh definitely time management. I was able to get used to it that I’m not forgetting anything and then this project Cattleya Killer has been shot more than a year ago already so definitely it took time before the premiere na,” he told PUSH.

Despite his packed schedule, the 32-year-old actor said he always still makes sure to spend time with his loved ones whenever he has free time.

“Definitely there’s always time, especially for Maine (Mendoza, his fiancée) and my family. During my free time or free days, I spend it with them. We spend time definitely doing things that we want to do,” he said.

Aside from starting his political career least year, Arjo also celebrated another milestone in his life after proposing to his longtime girlfriend Maine Mendoza last July 2022.

Despite keeping details of their wedding from the public, the engaged actor revealed during the Cattleya Killer blue carpet gala screening that their union will be happening this year.

“Definitely the wedding is in the works but that’s all I can say for now. We’re preparing for it. I’m enjoying it. And definitely it’s within the year. It’s also part of what we’re planning right now. Surprise na lang (laughs),” he shared.

Having been vocal about wanting to have a big family of his own someday, Arjo said he and Maine are not going to be in any rush to have their first child after walking down the aisle.

“We’ll definitely enjoy each other’s time first and then we’ll see. Diyos na bahala (laughs). So si Lord na bahala sa amin when it comes to that. We’re looking forward to enjoying each other’s company as a married couple,” he added.

Last month, Arjo’s movie with Julia Montes called Topakk (Trigger) by Richard Somes, was selected to be one of the seven feature films which was screened and featured as part of the Cannes Film Festival held in France last month.

Topakk tells the story of a lonely security guard (Arjo) who was previously discharged from the military due to his post-traumatic stress disorder. He finds himself embroiled in a different kind of war when a young woman (Julia) seeks his protection against a corrupt police death squad.

Cattleya Killer stars Arjo Atayde, Jake Cuenca, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Jane Oineza, and Ria Atayde, The series can be streamed through Prime Video starting June 1.

Also available on the app is the digitally restored and remastered version of the 1996 film Sa Aking Mga Kamay (In My Own Hands) on which Cattleya Killer was originally based, which was directed by Rory B. Quintos and starring Aga Muhlach, Chin Chin Gutierrez, and Christopher de Leon.

After the star-studded gala screening for his new crime thriller series Cattleya Killer earlier this month, actor and producer Arjo Atayde said he could not wait for the show to start streaming to audiences next week.

“It’s very exciting. Since last night, I couldn’t sleep (laughs). To be honest, I’ve also been gone for a long time. I’ve been busy doing other things. Especially congress as well. So definitely this is practically my first premiere again after a couple of years. I’m very thankful to be given this privilege by ABS-CBN, Amazon Prime, and of course, Nathan Studios, and ABS-CBN International. This is a big blessing for all of us,” he said.

The series is a sequel to the 1995 film Sa Aking Mga Kamay that originally starred Aga Muhlach as a serial killer and Christopher de Leon as an NBI agent.

In Cattleya Killer, Aga’s character is already deceased and Christopher de Leon has risen through the ranks to become NBI deputy director and his youngest son (played by Arjo) is following in his footsteps. When a copycat killer emerges, the son becomes the prime suspect.

As a fan of the original film, Arjo shared how much he admired Aga’s work in the film and revealed he does not feel pressured to surpass the veteran actor’s performance.

“Well I don’t really think about the pressure. I’m out here to enjoy and I can’t redo what he did. He’s one brilliant actor. He really pulled it off.

“To be honest, he’s one of my favorite actors. Napakagaling talaga ni tito Aga and you know, we can only do as much as we can. And again, it’s a sequel. It’s a spinoff. And hopefully people will enjoy. Definitely nagpaalam kami. May timbre naman ito kay Aga and he’s happy about it,” he explained.

In order to portray his role as talented NBI agent Anton dela Rosa, Arjo shared just how much he researched before they started shooting the series.

“I watched a lot of videos, a lot of watching of documentaries, a lot of watching YouTube videos, interviews. Director Dan Villegas has been nothing but helpful. We were able to create this character who’s very different. It’s also my first time to do this type of thriller series so definitely it’s something different,” he admitted.

Having won best actor at 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards for his iWant series ‘Bagman,’ Arjo said he is not thinking about being nominated for his latest role.

“No. Honestly, it’s all a cherry on top, a bonus. So I just do this because I enjoy. Definitely those awards are just really big bonuses for me to be honest. It’s a blessing. It’s a privilege. More than that, I do what I do,” he added.

The feature film Topakk (Trigger) by Richard Somes, starring award-winning actor Arjo Atayde, was selected to be part of this year’s Cannes Film Festival in France.

The action thriller, featuring Julia Montes, will be screened at the inaugural Fantastic Pavilion of Cannes’ Marché du Film, which will run from May 16 to 22, according to its website. The Pavilion is dedicated solely to the advancement of the genre film industry — it aims to “both accelerate and symbolize the now significant role that genre plays in international market dynamics.”

Based on its official synopsis, Topakk tells the story of a lonely security guard (Arjo) who was previously discharged from the military due to his post-traumatic stress disorder. He finds himself embroiled in a different kind of war when a young woman (Julia) seeks his protection against a corrupt police death squad. While the pair fight for their lives, the man must confront his inner demons to earn his redemption.

On Instagram, producer and Arjo’s mother, Sylvia Sanchez, shared the exciting news to her fans.

“This makes me unimaginably happy & proud! I’m hoping for the best as we sell TOPAKK in Cannes in our advocacy to showcase Filipino talent at its finest!” she said.

“Our action-thriller movie from the Philippines, Topakk (Trigger) by director Richard Somes, has been selected as 1 of the 7 genre films to be screened and featured during the festivities. Wohooo! Congratulations to the entire TOPAKK team! Mabuhay kayo!” she added.

Chatting with ABS-CBN News in January, Arjo — who is also set to star in the international thriller Cattleya Killer — said he is grateful to be part of Topakk.

“It’s a very well thought of concept by direk Richard. I’m just lucky to be on board, to be doing a project with direk Richard,” he said.

Talking about his preparations for the role, Arjo said, “I watched videos sa YouTube about people suffering from PTSD. I studied my role. Nung binigay sa akin ang role, I told direk na mag-send ng videos sa akin and I watched them bago matulog. ‘Yun ang assignment ko. At least once a day, either day or night, make sure to watch these videos.”

Topakk also stars Sid Lucero, with Enchong Dee, and Kokoy De Santos. The film is co-produced by Nathan Studios, Strawdogs Studio Production, FUSEE, and Theo & Atlas Productions, in association with Canada-based production outfit Raven Banner Entertainment.

The Cannes Film Festival will run from May 16 to May 27, 2023.

In the crime thriller series Cattleya Killer, Arjo Atayde plays the role of Anton dela Rosa, an NBI agent following in the footsteps of his father played by veteran actor Christopher de Leon.

The actor and politician shared his memorable experience working on the show during Prime Video’s blue carpet gala premiere of Cattleya Killer last May 12.

“We’re very much overwhelmed with the fact that he carried on a spinoff of Sa Aking Mga Kamay. And we’re very blessed to have him. While I was working with him, super galing po. He’s such a brilliant actor. No words can explain how thankful I am to be given the opportunity to work with him. No words po. Magaling talaga si tito Boyet. So it was one hell of a ride!” he said.

Arjo also plays Jake Cuenca’s younger brother on the show and the two actors admitted that their real-life friendship was a big factor in why they worked so well together onscreen as well.

“It’s so easy kasi besides the fact that Jake is a friend, a really close friend, he’s also very generous as an actor. So it’s very helpful pag ganun na hindi madamot. We’re just literally giving, and enjoying the scenes. So again we enjoyed it and we collaborated at the end of the day kaya ganun yung whatever you’ll see in the scenes,” he added.

Playing a mysterious role in the series will keep the audience guessing on whether or not Arjo’s character is the killer. But the actor said that the character is still on the side of the law.

“He is for justice and equality definitely. Down the line, you’ll know why. I’m not here to spoil. I want to further explain but out of all the darkness around him, definitely he still believes in justice and equality. I don’t know to explain how I really get into the character but there’s a lot of analyzing at the beginning. Especially when direk Dan (Villegas) was trying to explain specifically how the character should be. I can’t explain eh.

“Definitely I just try to get into the character. I just went with every flow as an instinct definitely with the guidance of direk and what the production wanted for Anton Dela Rosa’s personality to be. It was all studied by the production and direk,” he explained.

After shooting packed up for the show, Arjo revealed how he was able to detach from the role after working on it for months.

“Snap in and snap out lang ako. Through the years siguro I was able to learn about letting go of the character. Kailangan eh. Definitely sometimes lalo na pag tuloy tuloy may nadadalang personality and I think that goes for everyone naman. Especially all the actors who try to really get into the character.

“Everyone I’m with I’m sure experiences that. Yun lang po. I snap in and snap out of character. When I get to the set, the actors, directors, production, everyone makes it easy for us. Everything was on point. This was such an experience and a journey,” he explained.

During the event, Arjo said he was so proud to finally be able to share his work with the world, and especially with his fiancée Maine Mendoza who attended the gala screening.

“Definitely, kahit kanino. We really worked hard for it. Definitely I’d be very proud to make anyone, especially Maine, to watch it,” he added.

Cattleya Killer stars Arjo Atayde, Jake Cuenca, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Jane Oineza, Ria Atayde, Ricky Davao, Nonie Buencamino, and Christopher de Leon.

The six-episode series, produced by ABS-CBN International Production and Nathan Studios, is based on a classic ‘90s Filipino film, Sa Aking Mga Kamay (In My Own Hands), and will be available on Prime Video on June 1 in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other selected territories.

The series is a sequel to the 1995 film Sa Aking Mga Kamay that originally starred Aga Muhlach as a serial killer and Christopher de Leon as an NBI agent.

As a fan of the original film, Arjo shared how much he admired Aga’s work in the film and revealed he does not feel pressured to surpass the veteran actor’s performance.

“Well I don’t really think about the pressure. I’m out here to enjoy and I can’t redo what he did. He’s one brilliant actor. He really pulled it off.

In order to portray his role as talented NBI agent Anton dela Rosa, Arjo shared just how much he researched before they started shooting the series.

Having won best actor at 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards for his iWant series ‘Bagman,’ Arjo said he is not thinking about being nominated for his latest role.

Ever since she decided to put her showbiz career in the backseat in order to focus on raising her family with husband Antonio Lagdameo Jr., Dawn Zulueta has devoted her life to her husband and their two children, Jacobo Antonio and Ayisha Madlen.

Last May 27, the 54-year-old actress proudly shared the latest milestone in her son’s life as a senior student at the International School Manila.

In her Instagram post, Dawn wrote,

“Happy Graduation, Jacobo!

“It’s taken me a while to formulate the words to express what wants to burst out of my heart. I speak for your Papa also when I say how overwhelmed with love and pride we are for you & what you’ve worked hard to accomplish. Now that you’re off to new beginnings and greater heights, know that you’ll always have your family, and all your Titos, Titas, Ninongs and Ninangs whom you can count on for emotional and moral support.”

In her video post, Dawn also showed her son’s close relationship with his female cousins who were also graduating that same day.

“You were born in 2005, the same year as your cousins, Danni, Celine, and Anda. All four of you were joined at the hip as you grew up together achieving every milestone. Never forget this strong bond that you share, carry it with you as you enter adulthood. You will always need each other to lean on.

“I now have to keep reminding myself that it’s time to let you go so you can begin to spread your wings. But don’t worry because I’ll never outgrow being your doting (worry wart) Mama. I’ll never be too far away, too busy, or too tired if you should need me. Keep being good natured & respectful; these strong traits of yours will carry you well through life. I love you from here to eternity. Fly and soar high, my Son. Keep making us proud.. and may our Heavenly Lord bless and keep you.”

Last month, Dawn also shared another video clip with her son who attended his school’s senior prom.

She wrote, “ ISM Prom 2023! Your Papa and I are tremendously proud of you @jacobolagdameo, and so happy for you! You deserve all the best because you’ve worked extremely hard in school…T-5 days to your Graduation Day ✨👨‍🎓👏”

Aside from being a good student, Jacobo is also an athlete who was part of the International School Manila Bearcats basketball team. She shared details of his athletic accomplishment in the post.

“Congratulations, Team Bearcats, for a 7-game shut out & winning in the Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools (IASAS) basketball championship 2023! ✨👏 The game was hard-won, and more especially for our boy, Jacobo, who has been nursing a busted left knee & ankle these past 7 months. With determination & a great deal of effort, he pressed on just to get into the lineup & play for his ISM Team, this being his final year in Senior High. That was impressive, son. We love the way you responded to adversity there. We love the attitude you bring in everyday in all of the things you endeavor to do. You are hard to beat because you never give up 💪👏👏 To paraphrase the great Muhammad Ali: ‘If your mind can conceive it and your heart can believe it — then you can achieve it.’ That’s how we raised you, son; you keep making us proud of you.”

Seventeen-year-old Jacobo is Dawn’s eldest child with husband and businessman Anton.

Born as Marie Rachel Salman Taleon, Dawn started her showbiz career in 1986 and starred in iconic Pinoy films like Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit, Una Kang Naging Akin, and Saan Ka Man Naroroon.

Dawn was last seen acting in the 2019 drama film Family History where she played the role of Michael V.’s wife.

Seasoned actress Dawn Zulueta took to social media to celebrate the birthday of her son Jacobo, who turned 17.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, October 19, Dawn shared her birthday wish for Jacobo as she shared a rare photo of her son.

“You’re my heart outside of my body. I pray that God grants you perfect health and pure happiness for as long as humanly possible,” she wrote.

“Happy 17th birthday, my darling Jacobo.”

Jacobo is the son of Dawn with her husband of 24 years, Anton Lagdameo Jr.

He made headlines last May after attending his first high school prom. Aside from Jacobo, Dawn and her husband also have a daughter, Ayisha Madlen, who is now 13 and is an aspiring ballet dancer.

Dawn and Antonio, a former Davao del Norte Representative and a scion of a wealthy Mindanao family, have been married for 23 years.

They first met when they were teenagers. However, it was only during Anton’s birthday celebration in January 1996 when they had a chance to hook up.

Sometime after, the two became a couple, and eventually got married at the University Club in New York in 1997.

At 44, Dawn remains one of the most beautiful faces in the country. She is a living testament that raising a family shouldn’t hinder a woman from taking good care of oneself. But more than any beauty regimen, the talented actress said that having a positive outlook in life keeps her looking young and radiant. “Ay naku, wala ako nun (abs), mukha lang meron. Haha! I’m so tamad. I don’t even go to the gym. I know I should. Why? Because it’s healthy and I encourage that with everyone. It’s important that you have cardiovascular exercise. I’m not very good at it, but I will try my best.”

In the same press con where she was launched as the celebrity endorser of Progress Pre-school Gold, Dawn shared that it’s quite a challenge for not just a celebrity mom like her, but any other mom who has a career, to figure out ways to ensure that their children get the best kind of education and are never left behind in school. But aside from academic excellence, she is a firm believer of developing a child’s multiple intelligence (eight types based on the enlightening talk given by Dr. Thomas Armstrong including self-smart, people-smart, picture-smart, logic-smart, music-smart, body-smart, word-smart, and nature-smart) by exposing them to various activities even outside school. “Para ma-develop ang bata ang multiple intelligence kailangan mas ma-expose sila sa kung anu-anong bagay—anything that interests them. By playing outdoors they discover a lot of things about nature, ‘pag may kalaro sila nade-develop din yung iba nilang multiple intelligence like people smarts nila, how they relate with other people. ‘Pag nagaway sila how do they mend it. School is there to teach the most practical things like alphabets, numbers, but how you bring that altogether and make the most out of it in the practical world [is also important].”

At a time when modern technology is made easily available even to young children, Dawn said that it’s important to limit their exposure to gadgets as it hinders them from exploring their surroundings. “I can relate to it kasi I am a child of that kind of era, remember I was raised in the ‘70s. Wala pang computer nung time na yun. Talagang na-enhance ko lahat ng multiple intelligence ko because I played outdoors. I really was able to explore. Na-expose ako mabuti.”

Dawn added that she sets certain house rules for this to be possible. “Kasi siyempre as a child is still growing you need to impart to them a certain kind of structure. Will she allow her children to join showbiz when the time comes? “Parang nakikita ko yung aking daughter, si Ayisha [may interest sa showbiz]. Siguro dahil lagi niya akong napapanood na nagme-makeup, nagaayos ng buhok, kasi I work, ‘di ba? Parang nai-imbibe niya yata. We’ll see. I don’t encourage it yet dahil ang gusto ko gawin ng mga anak namin ngayon magaral muna sila. Later on kapag naka-graduate na sila they can decide on their own.”

As for her son Jacobo, Dawn said she hopes that he would follow the footsteps of his dad and venture into politics. “Who knows I just might have the next president of the Philippines? Gusto ko muna siya mag-explore doon. Like Jacobo is very people smart unlike me when I was growing up, I was shy and my daughter takes up after me. But Jacobo takes up after his father. Or baka gusto niya maging lawyer someday. Who knows? I’m not putting down yung mga gaya ko na celebrity, pero let’s see first if they have other talents.”

Seasoned actress Dawn Zulueta took to social media to celebrate the birthday of her son Jacobo, who turned 17.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, October 19, Dawn shared her birthday wish for Jacobo as she shared a rare photo of her son.

“You’re my heart outside of my body. I pray that God grants you perfect health and pure happiness for as long as humanly possible,” she wrote.

“Happy 17th birthday, my darling Jacobo.”

Jacobo is the son of Dawn with her husband of 24 years, Anton Lagdameo Jr.

He made headlines last May after attending his first high school prom. Aside from Jacobo, Dawn and her husband also have a daughter, Ayisha Madlen, who is now 13 and is an aspiring ballet dancer.

Dawn and Antonio, a former Davao del Norte Representative and a scion of a wealthy Mindanao family, have been married for 23 years.

They first met when they were teenagers. However, it was only during Anton’s birthday celebration in January 1996 when they had a chance to hook up.

Sometime after, the two became a couple, and eventually got married at the University Club in New York in 1997.

The mainstay hosts of Eat Bulaga!—Vic Sotto, Tito Sotto, and Joey de Leon or better known as TVJ—announced their departure from the company behind the longest-running noontime variety show, TAPE Inc.

TVJ made the emotional announcement in a video released online on Wednesday, May 31.

Tito Sotto started by revealing that they went to the studio for work, but were not allowed by the management to go on air.

“Pumasok po kami lahat ngayong araw para makapagtrabaho pero hindi po kami pinayagang umere ng management ng live,” Tito said.

Joey de Leon, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to the TV stations that served as the home of Eat Bulaga! for the past four decades, including ABS-CBN.

“Kung matatandaan niyo po, July 30 ng 1979 nang simulan namin ang Eat Bulaga! 44 years na po ito. Kaya naman lubos ang aming pasasalamat sa lahat ng aming mga naging tahanan. Unang-una po sa RPN9 for nine years, ang ABS-CBN for six years, at ang GMA for 28 years. Dalawampu’t-walong taon. Thank you very much,” Joey stated.

Vic Sotto, for his part, thanked the advertisers who supported them throughout the years.

“Nagpapasalamat din kami sa lahat ng advertisers mula 1979 na nagmahal, nagtiwala, at sumuporta sa amin,” Vic said.

Tito went on to thank the public — dubbed Dabarkads — for being there for them from the very start as well as one of the owners of TAPE Inc., Tony Tuviera.

“Ganun din po sa inyo, mga Dabarkads, sa mga manonood sa inyong pagmamahal sa programang naging bahagi ng inyong tanghalian. Lubos din ang aming pasasalamat kay Mr. Tony Tuviera sa pagkakaibigan at sa pagiging bahagi ng aming pamilya. At higit sa lahat, sa Panginoong Diyos dahil hindi niya kami pinabayaan,” Tito Sen said.

Vic said that all they are wishing for is to work with peace and respect towards one another, before making the announcement about their departure.

“Hindi na po namin iisa-isahin ang mga laman ng aming mga puso at aming damdamin. Ang hiling lang po namin ay makapagtrabaho ng mapayapa, walang ma-aagrabayado, at may respeto sa bawat isa,” he remarked.

“Simula ngayong araw, May 31, 2023, kami po ay magpapaalam na sa TAPE Inc. Karangalan po namin na kami ay nakapaghatid ng tuwa’t-saya mula Batanes hanggang Jolo at naging bahagi ng mga buhay ninyo,” Vic added. “Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat.”

While TVJ has yet to make an official statement about the future of the show, they promised that fans can expect the happiness and joy to continue wherever they may go.

“Hanggang sa muli. Saan man kami dalhin ng tadhana, tuloy ang isa’t-libong isang tuwa,” he said.

Marking another milestone in their matrimonial life this year, Pauleen Luna greeted husband Vic Sotto on their seventh anniversary last January 31.

She wrote, “Today, I celebrate US! Happy 7th wedding anniversary my love ❤️ I am full of gratitude everyday because God couldn’t have chosen a better partner for me. Thank you for making the past 7 years happy, easy and full of meaning. I love you babe! Forever.🏻”

Last November 2022, Pauleen and Vic also celebrated their 11th year of being a couple. In an earlier post, Pauleen reflected on their marriage, which was initially controversial because of their 34-year age gap.

She wrote in the post, “God couldn't have chosen a better husband for me. Everyday (every night and random times in the day) I would thank Him that it is you babe. This pandemic has definitely proven that your heart was made for mine and mine for yours. Thank you. Thank you for loving me, for letting me be myself, for looking out for me, for giving me a sense of security, for always making me laugh and most of all, for giving me so much respect. I know you're not good with your words but I feel you.”

The couple get married at the St James The Great Parish Church in Alabang in 2016. Their only child Talitha Marie is now five years old.

Sa pambihirang pagkakataon, muling nagbalik pelikula ang iconic TV personality na si Joey De Leon na bumida sa My Teacher na isa sa mga pelikulang kalahok sa 48th Metro Manila Film Festival.

Sa isang press conference ng pelikula, isa sa mga hindi naiwasan na mapag-usapan ang naging sama ng loob niya kay Toni Gonzaga na nagsimula dati sa noontime show na Eat Bulaga.

Matatandaan na taong 2001 nang sumabak si Toni sa pagiging host ng noontime show kung saan nakasama niya sina Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, at Joey De Leon na tumayo bilang pangalawang mga Tatay niya sa industriya.

"Galit ako dito noong nilayasan kami," hayagan na sinabi ni Joey sa panayam ng entertainment press. Sundot pa niya: "Nagtampo ako, nagtampo ako talaga."

Aniya ang biglaang pag-alis ni Toni patungong Kapamilya network ang isa sa masasabi niyang malalim na tampo niya sa kasamahang host.

"Nagtampo talaga dahil love namin 'to, baby namin 'to e," ani Joey.

Inamin rin ng veteran TV host na itinuring nilang isang tunay na anak si Toni na araw-araw nilang pagsasama dati tuwing tanghalian.

"Wala baby namin 'to e, siyempre hindi mo naman.... so noong nawala, selfish lang kami noon. Pero good for her, natutuwa kami sa nangyari, 'yun lang. Nakikita ko na rin naman ito e, so masaya ako sa sinapit ni Celestine.”

Bukod kay Toni, masaya rin ang veteran TV host na nagkaroon muli siya ng pagkakataon na makasama ang mga new generation of stars sa kanilang MMFF movie.

Sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon ay pumayag ang actor-TV host na si Vic Sotto na maging celebrity ambassador ng CitiGlobal Realty which caters primarily to overseas Filipino workers of OFW.

The beloved Bossing of Philippine showbiz is more than endorsing a real estate company. He is also championing its purpose of helping deserving individuals in improving their state of living.

“I am very partial to our OFWs. Nakakasama at nakakausap ko ang madami sa kanila hindi lang sa studio ng Eat Bulaga kundi pati na rin sa mga international concerts namin. Ramdam mo talaga na sabik na sabik sila sa Plipinas. Lahat nag-iipon para makapagbakasyon sa atin. Kaya ganu’n na lang ang kayod nila para makapag-relax at mag-enjoy dito,” simulang kuwento ni Vic.

Pero kahit siya ang mukha ng real estate company, aminado si Vic na hindi pa niya naipapatayo ang kanyang dream house.

“Wala pa, eh,” agad niyang pag-amin. “Pero meron naman akong bahay sa Tagaytay, an old house actually, isa sa mga konting investments ko. Nature-tripper kasi ako, gusto ko yung parang nasa bakasyon lang ako pag nasa bahay ako,” dagdag pa niya.

Eh, sino ba ang isasama niya sa ipatatayong dream house?

“Wala namang iba, si Pauleen lang,” sabi agad niya. “Hindi naman ako malikot. Ako lang naman ang nililikot,” biro pa niya. (continued on next page)

Malapit nang matapos ang Metro Manila Film Festival entry ni Vic na My Big Bossing na isang trilogy at mukhang mauunahan niya ang ibang pelikulang na kasalukuyan pa lang sinu-shoot.

“Two shooting days to go na lang kami -- this Friday and Saturday -- tapos post prod na lang, ‘yon ang medyo madugo, eh.

“Tagal kaming nag-prepare. February-March pa lang, nagkukuwentuhan na kami... Principal photography namin nag-start na nung July pa lang kasi may kasama kaming bata (Ryzza Mae Dizon). Hindi naman puwedeng puyatin ‘yon,” he said.

Sa December ay makakabangga ng My Big Bossing at ang Little Bossing. Ano ang feeling niya dito?

“Magkaiba naman sila eh. Magkaiba sila ng tema, so I don’t think magkakaroon ng conflict. And besides, ‘yung aking Big Bossing is a trilogy. Yung aking Big Bossing (Ryzza), eh, talagang ipinakita ang kanyang talento sa pagpapatawa... sa seryosong role. I think she’s proving herself to be a very good actress, hindi lang yung puro pa-cute.

“Sa My Little Bossings kasi puro pa-cute lang siya, eh. Pag pinanood mo, pa-cute lang sila ni Bimby, eh... Eto, tatlong role ang aming ginampanan... Si Ryzza naging sirena, ispiritista at prinsesa,” pagmamalaki ng actor-TV host sa kanyang co-star.

May wish si Vic kay Kris Aquino na dati niyang katambal last year sa MMFF movie na My Little Bossings.

“Not only for Kris, I wish everyone good luck, and I wish... yung kabuuan ng festival. Sana malampasan namin yung last year. Medyo mahirap-hirap na gawin ‘yon, but we’ll never know.

“Last year kasi, it was a record-breaking result, eh... I know mahirap i-break ‘yon. Of course, it’s always possible. The possibility is there,” say pa ni Vic.

Idinagdag din ni Vic, na magiging masaya siya sa kalalabasan ng pelikula nila ni Kris sa box-office. Hindi rin daw siya conscious na palaging nagiging top-grosser ang kanyang pelikula.

“Basta ang importante, pareho kaming kumita okay na kami no’n. Pareho na kaming bonggang-bongga.”

“Pero kung magiging number one kami, okay lang. Kahit naman number two ka pero maganda naman yung box-office mo, eh, okay na rin. It’s just a number. Sanay naman ako na nagna-number two. Basta huwag lang number three,” biro pa niya.

Palabas ang My Big Bossing sa Dec. 25 kasabay ng Feng Shui 2 at iba pang pelikulang kalahok sa taunang Metro Manila Film Festival.

Ang komedyanteng si Ruby Rodriguez pala ang tunay na mentor at discoverer ng magaling na child actress/host na si Ryzza Mae Dizon na kasamang bida ni Vic Sotto sa pelikulang My Big Bossing na palabas na sa Dec. 25 in time for the Metro Manila Film Festival.

“Ako ang nagpumilit sa staff ng Eat Bulaga na ipasa si Ryzza sa Little Miss Philippines audition. That time kasi nando’n ako at nu’ng makita ko siya, may nakita akong kakaiba sa kanya, merong X-factor, eh kaya sinabi ko na ipasok siya sa daily kahit maging panabla na lang,” kuwento ni Ruby.

“Tingnan n’yo naman ngayon kung nasaan na si Ryzza? Hindi ako nagkamali sa naging desisyon ko. Buti na lang nakita ko siya at nando’n ako sa audition...” patuloy na kuwento pa niya.

Napansin namin na sa billing ng My Big Bossing ay pantay sa laki ang pangalan nina Ryzza Mae at Vic. “Deserve naman ‘yon ni Ryzza,” pagtatanggol naman ni Vic.

“Pagod na pagod siya (Ryzza) sa pelikula dahil kasama ko siya sa tatlong episodes (Taktak, Prinsesa at Sirena) kaya pantay lang dapat kami,” katwiran pa niya.

“Sa Sirena kailangan niyang matutong lumangoy at mag-scuba na parang dolphin. Sa Taktak naman ay kailangan niyang gayahin si Nora Aunor sa Himala, tapos sa Prinsesa, dapat feeling prinsesa siya talaga... Mahirap yung tatlong role niya pero kinaya niya,” kwento pa ni Vic.

Dahil sa galing at pagiging very professional ni Ryzza ay puring-puri siya ni Bossing Vic.

”She’s not just an ordinary child actress. Actress talaga siya. Totoo ‘yon,” pagmamalaki pa niya.

Si Ryzza Mae din daw ang nakita niyang child actress na ipinapaulit ang eksena kapag hindi niya ito nagustuhan.

“Pack up na si Direk Joyce pero ang tagal nakalabas ni Ryzza. ‘Yun pala, humingi ng take 2 si Ryzza. Humingi ng take 2 dahil gusto niyang magpatulo ng luha sa isang mata. Ganu’n siya.”

Maging kay Marlon Rivera na direktor ng Taktak ay ipinaulit din nito ang kanyang eksena.

“Nalokah nga si Marlon sa kanya, eh, kasi tapos na ang eksena, pero humingi pa rin ng take 2. Iseset up na yung next scene, pero maya-maya, ibinalik yung set kasi gusto raw niyang umiyak.

“Ganu’n kaseryoso si Ryzza. Nakakatuwa. And at the same time, makikita mo, nagenjoy siya sa kanyang ginagawa... ‘Yun bang, ‘Hindi trabaho ‘to, eh. I know what I’m doing, I know this is acting but at the same time, we are playing, we are enjoying what we do,” sambit pa ni Vic na halatang amaze na amaze sa kay Ryzza.
