Actor Paolo Contis revealed his romantic relationship with actress Yen Santos earlier today, January 30.

In an interview with Boy Abunda, the King of Talk asked the actor if Yen was the reason for his separation from LJ Reyes, which he was quick to shut down with a no.

Paolo admitted in the same interview that his relationship with his then-partner, LJ Reyes, hadn't been okay long before Yen Santos entered the picture.

The 38-year-old actor added that he had regrets about his falling out with LJ. Paolo then shared that their fights would become frequent. He also admitted that he didn’t take notice of the actress’ mental health.

“Hindi. Somehow, medyo matagal na kaming hindi okay ni LJ. Pero we were together of course. Napapadalas yung away and everything, I think it’s a combination of the stress sa pandemic. One of my biggest mistakes was hindi ko inalala yung mental health ni LJ, isa yun sa feeling ko naging simula ng downfall namin,” he shared.

Paolo went on to share in the interview with Boy that he also wasn’t informing LJ about his whereabouts, which resulted in bigger problems for the former couple. He didn’t give any more information as to what problems they were having at the time.

“Yung pagdidiskarte ko ng sarili ko. Hindi ko na iniinform sa kanya 'yung mga bagay-bagay which led to bigger problems… hindi kami nag-uusap ng maayos,” he continued.

He then admitted that he and Yen are now in a relationship.

The former child actor maintained that he and Yen were still friends during the time they were spotted in Baguio together back in 2021. He defended himself that LJ was already in the US when her interview went out.

“Yung as a friend, yung nag Baguio kami ni Yen, nasa States na sila LJ nun. Nag mukhang baliktad because your interview with LJ came out. Pero wala na kami sa Baguio nun so feeling ng tao, habang iniinterview si LJ, nasa Baguio ako. At least ten days na sila ng nasa States,” he said.

Paolo is focusing on his relationship now with Yen, admitting that he knows they couldn’t please everyone with the announcement. He hoped that people would understand his truth.

“Sa amin kasi kumbaga is what you see is what you get naman eh. Di naman namin pwede ipilit yung tao to be happy for us, di naman namin pwede ipilit 'yung mga tao na paniwalaan yung gusto nilang paniwalaan sana lang isipin nila na kung ano lang yung nakikita nilang naka-post, 'yun lang y'ung truth na alam nila,” he remarked.

Sa isang panayam ni Paolo Contis sa TV host na si Boy Abunda, naitanong sa kanya ng King of Talk ang patungkol sa hindi niya umano pagbibigay ng sustento sa kanyang mga anak.

May tatlong anak si Paolo. Sina Xonia at Xalene sa dati nitong asawa na si Lian Paz at si Summer naman sa dati nitong partner na si LJ Reyes.

Paliwanag ni Paolo, may mga dahilan siya kung bakit hindi siya nakakapagbigay ng sustento at ayaw niya nang makipagtalo tungkol dito.

Gayunpaman, nagsimula na siyang mag-ipon mula nang magkaroon siya ng trabaho. Plano naman niya itong ibigay sa kanila sa tamang panahon.

“I had my reasons why, but I’m saving for them. I have some savings for them that, hopefully, one day, I could give them straight,” saad ni Paolo.

“As I’ve said, I had my reasons, pero anong point? I don’t wanna argue about it anymore. Ayoko na siyang lumaki. It’s a mistake na nasimulan ko ever since before na hindi ako nakapagbigay,” dagdag pa niya.

Ayon pa kay Paolo, wala umano siyang koneksyon sa kanyang mga anak na sina Xonia at Xalene.

“The last time I saw my… Xonia and Xalene, mga seven, six or seven years ago when we went to Cebu. And then, naputol na naman,” ani Paolo.

Inamin naman ni Paolo na marami siyang pagkukulang lalo na sa dalawang niyang anak. Pero aniya, mahal na mahal niya raw ang mga ito.

“‘Yung sa dalawa [Xonia at Xalene], ‘yun, medyo malalim-lalim na ‘yung pagkukulang ko so hindi ko sila masisisi,” saad ni Paolo.

Pinasalamatan naman ni Paolo sina Lian at John Cabahug, ang tumatayong ama ng kanyang dalawang anak, dahil sa pagmamahal nito sa dalawa niyang anak.

The former Pinoy Big Brother housemate, on the other hand, shared on her Instagram account photos of her with a birthday cake. The comments sections of their posts remain disabled as of writing.

Meanwhile, Yen dedicated her Best Actress win at the Gawad Urian to Paolo who was her partner in the film, A Faraway Land.

“Of course, to my leading man Paolo Contis, sobrang talented, napakagaling na artista. Maraming-maraming salamat sa iyo. I'll always be your number one fan,\" she said.

Paolo and Yen have been rumored to be in a relationship after the actor separated from his wife, LJ Reyes back in 2021.

The two were spotted in Baguio days after the rumors started going viral on social media. Paolo explained that Yen was with him ‘as a friend.’

The actor admitted that there was someone involved in his decision to split with LJ but added that Yen had nothing to do with it.

Award-winning actress na ang dating Pinoy Big Brother housemate at Kapamilya actress na si Yen Santos. Siya ang tinanghal na Best Actress sa katatapos lang na Gawad Urian Awards ng Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino para kanilang ika-45 na edisyon.

Nanalo si Yen dahil sa napakahusay niyang pagganap sa pelikulang A Far Away Land na pinagbibidahan din ni Paolo Contis.

Personal na tinanggap ng aktres ang kanyang tropeo kasama ng iba pang mga nanalo sa Cine Adarna ng UP Film Center nitong Huwebes, Nobyembre 17.

Nagpaabot kami ng pagbati kay Yen sa kanyang Instagram account kinabukasan pagkatapos niyang manalo at base sa kanyang reply ay halatang overwhelmed pa siya dahil sa pagkilalang natanggap mula sa Urian.

“Tito Leo, napakalaking karangalan po nito. Maraming, maraming salamat. Hindi talaga ako makapaniwala,” matipid niyang mensahe sa amin.

Umaasa si Yen na makakagawa pa ng magagandang pelikula sa hinaharap lalo na ngayong unti-unti nang bumabalik sa normal ang lahat.

“Sana po … sana magkaroon pa ng maraming pagkakataon na makaganap ako ng iba’t-ibang karakter,” aniya pa.

Sa acceptance speech ni Yen sa UP ay inialay at pinasalamatan niya ang A Far Away Land co-actor na si Paolo para sa napanalunang award.

“Of course, to my leading man Paolo Contis, sobrang talented, napakagaling na artista. Maraming-maraming salamat sa iyo. I'll always be your number one fan," pahayag ni Yen.

Pinasalamatan din niya ang Mavx Productions, ang direktor ng pelikula na si Veronica Velasco, pati na ang staff and crew.

Sa kanyang Instagram post ay masaya ring ipinakita ni Yen ang kanyang best actress trophy.

“A moment I will treasure for a lifetime,” caption niya dito.

Kaagad naman itong ni-like ni Paolo at ng kanyang mga followers at kaibigan sa industriya.

Samantala, huling napanood si Yen sa Kapamilya series na Halik kasama sina Jericho Rosales, Yam Concepcion at Sam Milby.
