OPM legend Coritha dies at 73

Philippine music legend Coritha passed away at the age of 73 last September 27 at 7:50 in the evening. The artist&rsquo;s death was confirmed by Dr. Digna Santos, the youngest sister of her partner, Luisito Santos. The doctor shared that the singer died in the Santos&rsquo; residence in Tagaytay City and was immediately cremated at around 10:30 PM of the same evening.&nbsp; &ldquo;She died Friday at 7:50 p.m. tapos ano na &lsquo;yun after that we contacted the barangay officials in Tagaytay of Maharlika East,&rdquo; the doctor shared.&nbsp; She added that it was her brother that wanted the late singer&rsquo;s remains cremated immediately. According to Coritha&rsquo;s caregivers, they noted that her health began deteriorating the Monday prior to her passing, showing a weak pulse and a struggle to breathe.&nbsp; Meanwhile, the official cause of death has yet to be announced by the family as of writing.&nbsp; &ldquo;Iba na rin yung istura ni Coritha noong before siya [nag] expire eh. Payat na payat na. Hindi na siya&hellip; wala nang verbal contact, eye contact lang,&rdquo; the doctor added.&nbsp; &ldquo;We&rsquo;re presuming or we&rsquo;re thinking na pneumonia na. Nagset in na &lsquo;yung pneumonia dahil pabago-bago ang weather sa Tagaytay. Uulan, lalamig, tapos iinit. So, we&rsquo;re thinking na that&#39;s one of the reasons na nag set in na &lsquo;yung pneumonia. So sa condition niya, hindi na niya kakayanin ang pneumonia,&rdquo; she continued. The family of the late singer will hold a one day viewing on October 5 until the morning of October 6 at their home in Tagaytay City. Friends of Coritha are welcome to visit her and pay their respects for one last time.&nbsp; &ldquo;Pumayag ang kapatid ko na magviewing muna ng one day, one night&hellip; ini-schedule namin siya for Saturday, October 5 afternoon, hanggang Sunday morning,&rdquo; she shared. The late singer&rsquo;s resting place has yet to be decided by the family as of writing. Coritha is known for her experimentation with native Filipino instruments and became famous in the 1960s and the 1970s. Some of her songs include &ldquo;Oras Na&rdquo;, &ldquo;Lolo Jose&rdquo;, &ldquo;Linawin Mo&rdquo;, &ldquo;Langit Sa Lupa&rdquo;, and &ldquo;Habilin&rdquo;, among others.&nbsp;
