Cross-country romance film Under Parallel Skies is set to be released on Netflix in October.

"Sometimes good things just come to an end. Under Parallel Skies, starring Win Metawin and Janella Salvador, arrives on Netflix October 24," Netflix posted on social media on Thursday, September 26.

Directed by Sigrid Bernardo, the movie follows the story of a Thai bachelor named Parin who travels to Hong Kong in search of his missing mother. He encounters a Filipino hotel receptionist named Iris, who helps him navigate love, heartbreak, and healing in the foreign city.

Richard Juan, the film’s executive producer and CEO of 28 Squared Studios, expressed his excitement for the debut movie of his company to stream worldwide on the streaming giant.

"I am beyond thrilled and deeply honored that Under Parallel Skies will be released worldwide on Netflix. It’s truly flattering, especially considering that this is our very first movie, and to have it reach a global audience is a testament to the incredible talent and hard work of everyone involved — from our brilliant actors who brought the characters to life, to the dedicated team behind the scenes who made this all possible," he remarked as per the press release.

The movie producer believes that the story will resonate among audiences around the world.

"It speaks of universal themes that everyone can relate to — love, identity, and the courage to embrace new beginnings. It’s these shared experiences that allow us to connect, regardless of where we come from," he stated.

Under Parallel Skies will stream on Netflix worldwide beginning October 24 except Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Prior to its streaming release, the film had its theatrical run in 13 countries and territories. It was also the first romance film from the Philippines distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The film had its world premiere in March as one of the programs of the prestigious 17th Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong.
