Kaila Estrada shared the advice that she received from her mom Janice de Belen when it comes to acting.

In an interview with Donny Pangilinan and Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan in an episode of Bida/Bida of Netflix Philippines, Kaila relayed that knowing her character well was one of the most essential lessons her mom advised her when it comes to filming difficult scenes. 

"Si mama kasi she's always there to help if we ask for it but she won't like really involve herself. But then when I would ask her for advice with like how do I prepare for a scene like this, some scenes can seem really intimidating when you read them, di ba? She's always like, 'Look into the core of your character. If you know your character then you'll know what to do.'"

In the same interview, Janice highlighted that as much as possible, she gives her daughter the liberty to navigate the world of acting herself.

"When I was younger, my parents were not actors so who would I ask? So I had to navigate myself. I've done things really badly, but you know you push on and then you do the best that you can. And that was my intention. I wanted her to grow, to navigate her way, and the thing I cannot teach is how to feel," Janice pointed out. 

Kaila remarked that because her mom has always been given her the opportunity to stand on her own when it comes to her craft, she became self-sufficient as an actress.

"When she gives advice, it's a bit on the tough side. She doesn't coddle us. I would say na self-sufficient ako because she's like that. There was this one scene that's super memorable sa akin na I felt that I messed it up so I felt like I did really bad. The scene was taking forever. I was really crying then I called her up, 'I'm so sorry this is so embarrassing.' I felt like if failed," she recalled.

Janice then advised Kaila: "[I told her] you'll have good days. You'll have bad days. That's life, wala tayong magagawa. You know tomorrow is a new day.'"

Kaila then said: "And that's actually her answer for everything and then you think about it, what's the point of dwelling on something that already happened, di ba? You just have to move on."
