Enrique Gil is set to make his big screen comeback in the comedy film I Am Not Big Bird.

"I just want a film to relax and have a good time, and just do this. Just an ode to the early 2000s and '90s comedies na talagang na-miss ko," he said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

He went on: "The cast, I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm super thankful and I'm super happy."

The actor remarked that through this film, they aim to bring back the '90s type of comedy.

“'Yan ang nakaka-miss sa '90s comedies. We wanted to bring it back. We wanted to deliver it," he said.

Enrique admitted that returning to acting after an almost four-year hiatus felt new again at first. "Medyo nanibago ako. I don't know, it was weird. Parang you still remember it, how to do it. Yung timing. Okay naman, very supportive [sila]. It felt good, the environment, the setting."

Black Sheep released the official trailer of the film on Friday, January 19.

The trailer shows Enrique's character going on a trip to Thailand with his friends only to be mistaken for an adult star named Big Bird.

Aside from Enrique, the film also stars Nikko Natividad and Pepe Herrera.

Back in April 2023, Enrique remained a Kapamilya as he signed an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN.

The actor had been on hiatus from showbiz prior to signing the contract with the Kapamilya network.

"I am really excited to coming back and starting a new path. I am really excited to doing something I've never done before. So hopefully guys watch out for that," he said during his contract signing as reported by ABS-CBN News

He continued: "To all the bosses here, you know this has always been my home and I am really, really glad to be back home. I'm missing all these faces, it's been a long time. Thank you guys so much. I love you all and excited. Yeah, let's do it. Thank you."
