TV5 execs speak up on ABS-CBN’s decision to move ‘It’s Showtime’ to GTV

This time around, we are co-owners, and co-investors in TVJ Productions. So &lsquo;yung title ng kung ano man &lsquo;yung show namin, mas invested kami kasi produkto na namin, &lsquo;di ba? So it just really makes sense through a business standpoint to put it in the timeslot that is best for it,&rdquo; she said.She also said that they did offer <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime">It&rsquo;s Showtime&nbsp;</a>a late afternoon slot, citing younger audiences tune in to TV during these hours which she said is apt for the show&rsquo;s young demographics. Then again, Jane said they respect the decision of It&rsquo;s Showtime.&ldquo;We did offer an alternative timeslot. And in our humble opinion, that timeslot which is the 4:30-6:30. It is best for it because it has a younger viewership eh. Bata ang mga nanonood ng It&rsquo;s Showtime. Sabi nga ni Boss MVP (Manny Pangilinan) no, ultimately it is their decision. And I believe as of this morning, that decision is to move that show out of TV5,&rdquo; she said.However, Jane said they would continue to support <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime">It&rsquo;s Showtime&nbsp;</a>since they still remain partners with the Kapamilya network. She also said CignalTV is the largest distributor of the network&rsquo;s flagship cable channel, Kapamilya Channel.&ldquo;But we will continue to support It&rsquo;s Showtime. Why? Because we carry Kapamilya Channel. And CignalTV is actually the biggest distributor of Kapamilya Channel nationwide. So that relationship with ABS-CBN will continue to exist. In fact, our primetime blocks are currently with ABS-CBN. And we&rsquo;re very thankful for that partnership,&rdquo; she said.PLDT and TV5 chairman Manny Pangilinan admitted it was a tough decision for them, but said it was &ldquo;purely a business decision&rdquo; on their end. He also reiterated that it just so happened that TVJ knocked on TV5&rsquo;s door at a time when ABS-CBN&rsquo;s blocktime agreement with TV5 to air I<a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime">t&rsquo;s Showtime</a> was about to end.&ldquo;We have had to make a tough choice between Showtime and this particular production item. And it was purely a business decision that we arrived at. It was a blocktime arrangement with them. And they have an expiry date on June 30,&rdquo; Manny Pangilinan said. &ldquo;So nagkataon lang. It was a matter of serendipity, that the thing blew up and our arrangements with ABS [on I<a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime">t&rsquo;s Showtime</a>&nbsp;ended].&rdquo;He also added that he did not he has not forsaken their duties with ABS-CBN in terms of arrangements made between them, saying they will continue to do partnerships with the country&rsquo;s leading content provider.&ldquo;Hindi kami nagkulang sa pagtulong sa ABS. We&rsquo;re proud of what we have done for them, &lsquo;di ba? We continue to have arrangements with them in terms of their content. We have not forsaken our duty to them,&rdquo; he remarked.Former Senate President and one-third of the TVJ trio, Vicente &ldquo;Tito&rdquo; Sotto III, clarified that it is not right to say <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime">It&rsquo;s Showtime</a>&nbsp;was bumped off since they will only come into the picture once the blocktime agreement between TV5 and ABS-CBN on the noontime slot will&nbsp;come to an end.&ldquo;With due respect to TV5, I don&rsquo;t think the phrase &lsquo;bump off&rsquo; should be used. Hindi naman sila na-bump off. Natapos ang kontrata nila. So, in fairness walang nabump-off. Natapos &lsquo;yung kontrata. &lsquo;Yun ang pagkakaalam namin.&rdquo;Both <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime">It&rsquo;s Showtime</a> and TVJ&rsquo;s still unnamed noontime show will air on GTV and TV5, respectively, starting July 1.Apart from GTV, Madlang People will also get the chance to see <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime">It&rsquo;s Showtime</a> on other platforms such as A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, and TFC.
