Arjo Atayde on admiring Aga Muhlach’s acting: ‘I can’t redo what he did’

<p>The series is a sequel to the 1995 film <em>Sa Aking Mga Kamay&nbsp;</em>that<em></em> originally starred Aga Muhlach as a serial killer and Christopher de Leon as an NBI agent.<p>In <em>Cattleya Killer,</em> Aga&rsquo;s character is already deceased and Christopher de Leon has risen through the ranks to become NBI deputy director and his youngest son (played by Arjo) is following in his footsteps. When a copycat killer emerges, the son becomes the prime suspect.&nbsp;<p>As a fan of the original film, Arjo shared how much he admired Aga&rsquo;s work in the film and revealed he does not feel pressured to surpass the veteran actor&rsquo;s performance.<p>&ldquo;Well I don&rsquo;t really think about the pressure. I&rsquo;m out here to enjoy and I can&rsquo;t redo what he did. He&rsquo;s one brilliant actor. He really pulled it off.<p>&ldquo;To be honest, he&rsquo;s one of my favorite actors. Napakagaling talaga ni tito Aga and you know, we can only do as much as we can. And again, it&rsquo;s a sequel. It&rsquo;s a spinoff. And hopefully people will enjoy. Definitely nagpaalam kami. Director Dan Villegas has been nothing but helpful. We were able to create this character who&rsquo;s very different. It&rsquo;s also my first time to do this type of thriller series so definitely it&rsquo;s something different,&rdquo; he admitted.&nbsp;<p>Having won best actor at 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards for his iWant series &lsquo;<em>Bagman,</em>&rsquo; Arjo said he is not thinking about being nominated for his latest role.<p>&ldquo;No. Honestly, it&rsquo;s all a cherry on top, a bonus. So I just do this because I enjoy. Definitely those awards are just really big bonuses for me to be honest. It&rsquo;s a blessing. It&rsquo;s a privilege. More than that, I do what I do,&rdquo; he added.&nbsp;<p><em>Cattleya Killer&nbsp;</em>stars Arjo Atayde, Jake Cuenca, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Jane Oineza, Ria Atayde, Ricky Davao, Nonie Buencamino, Christopher de Leon, Ketchup Eusebio, Jojit Lorenzo, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, Frances Ignacio, and Joel Saracho. Directed by Dan Villegas and written by Dodo Dayao.<p>The series premieres on Prime Video starting June 1. Also available on the app is the digitally restored and remastered version of <em>Sa Aking Mga Kamay (In My Own Hands),</em> directed by Rory B. Quintos and starring Aga Muhlach, Chin Chin Gutierrez, and Christopher de Leon.
